ABC News debate moderator’s secret ties to Kamala Harris finally exposed

It’s obvious that Harris was greatly assisted by the moderators in the most recent debate. But now there’s more to the story.

As this ABC News debate moderator’s secret ties to Kamala Harris have finally been exposed.

ABC Moderator Linsey Davis, who faced criticism from conservatives for her handling of Kamala Harris and Donald Trump during a presidential debate, shares an unexpected connection with the Democratic presidential nominee: both women are members of the historically Black sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha.

Davis, 46, sparked controversy when she forcefully countered Trump’s false claims about doctors performing abortions after birth. Republicans were quick to criticize, arguing that Davis was far less aggressive in challenging Harris on her own misstatements. This debate moment has drawn even more attention as news of Davis and Harris’s shared sorority membership has come to light.

Harris joined Alpha Kappa Alpha during her time at Howard University, a prestigious historically Black institution in Washington, D.C., where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 1986.

Meanwhile, Davis became part of the same sisterhood while an undergraduate at the University of Virginia, earning her bachelor’s degree in psychology in 1999.

The two sorority sisters have already crossed paths, having met during an ABC one-on-one interview the previous year. However, the discovery of this personal connection has unsettled some conservative observers, who took to social media to raise concerns about potential bias.

“The fact that Kamala Harris and Linsey Davis are members of the same sorority (Alpha Kappa Alpha – Howard and UVA respectively) is relevant with respect to potential bias,” one person said in a post on X.

Another post emphasized the exclusivity and deep history of the sorority, stating, “Alpha Kappa Alpha is one of the most storied legacy standing sororities in this country. Membership is by invitation only and regarded with the highest of honors by its members. @LinseyDavis and @KamalaHarris are both alumni sisters.”

Davis’s on-air rebuttal of Trump’s abortion comments drew significant attention. As the former president appeared to refer to remarks made by former Virginia Democratic Governor Ralph Northam in 2019, Davis stepped in with a correction: “There is no state in this country where it is legal to k*ll a baby after it’s born.”

This assertion prompted criticism from conservatives, who pointed out that six states and the District of Columbia impose no restrictions on abortion.

Tom Olohan, a writer for the conservative Media Research Center, took to X following the incident, writing, “Biased ABC anchor Linsey Davis teams up with Vice President Kamala Harris to attack former President Donald Trump on abortion.”

Critics of Davis also highlighted the contrast in the level of scrutiny given to Harris. While Davis and her fellow moderator David Muir fact-checked Trump on stage, they have been accused of being too lenient when Harris made erroneous claims.

Republicans pointed out missed opportunities to challenge Harris on statements such as her claim that police officers had died during the January 6th Capitol riot and that Trump’s policies endangered access to IVF treatments.

Former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer voiced his frustration, tweeting, “ABC is making a huge mistake trying to fact-check this live. They’re only proving how biased they are. Harris fabricated an attack on Trump over IVF. ABC sat there and said nothing.”

Fox News host Kayleigh McEnany added her voice to the chorus of conservative discontent, stating that ABC should be “ashamed of themselves” for what she perceived as an imbalance in their moderation.

Meanwhile, OutKick founder Clay Travis was direct in his criticism, posting, “Linsey Davis completely interjects herself into the debate to help Kamala. No surprise at all there.”

The debate fueled further political maneuvering. Immediately following the event, Harris’s team pitched the idea of a second debate to take place the following month. Initially, Trump’s camp expressed interest in continuing the debate series. However, by Thursday, the former president had reversed his position and put an end to further debates.
