Justice Thomas is a conservative champion. That’s why his enemies are out to get him and his family.
And this attack on Clarence Thomas’ wife has the Supreme Court in chaos.
Clarence Thomas’ time on the bench has been overwhelmingly productive.
To the ire of Democrats, he’s been a part of some major decisions, including his involvement in overturning Roe v. Wade.
And now the Left is trying to use Thomas’ wife, Ginni Thomas, to get the justice recused from a case involving former President Donald Trump.
Ginni is known as a strong Trump supporter, especially with his claims that the election was stolen from him in 2020.
The case regarding Trump that the Supreme Court will hear involves his claim that he is immune from any sort of prosecution involving alleged criminal acts during his time as president.
House Democrats have wrote a letter to call for Justice Thomas’ recusal, which was acquired by the Washington Examiner.
“We know through public reporting and through congressional investigations that your wife, Virginia (‘Ginni’) Thomas, was intimately involved in Mr. Trump’s alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election and to obstruct its certification – the very conspiracies at issue in this case,” the House Democrats’ letter said.
The Democrats involved in the letter and the calls for Thomas’ recusal include, Reps. Hank Johnson (D-GA), Jamie Raskin (D-MD), Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX), Dan Goldman (D-NY), and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).
Jack Smith, the special counsel in the case of former President Trump allegedly attempting to overturn the 2020 election, asked the Supreme Court to make a ruling on “whether a former President is absolutely immune from federal prosecution for crimes committed while in office or is constitutionally protected from federal prosecution when he has been impeached but not convicted before the criminal proceedings begin,” according to a petition that was filed by Smith.
The Supreme Court justices are asking Trump to answer Smith’s petition this week.
This means that they will decided afterwards if they are going to take Smith’s case or not.
When Ginni Thomas was interviewed by Congress during the investigation of January 6, Thomas explained that she believed Donald Trump when he claimed that the election was stolen.
Statements like that are being used against her for the campaign to try and get her husband recused.
And if Clarence Thomas does recuse himself, it wouldn’t be the first time he’s done so.
He recently did so when the court was deciding on hearing a petition from John Eastman, a former clerk of Thomas’.
Thomas never gave a full reason why he recused himself, but it’s likely due to his close relationship with Eastman.
But if Democrats have their way, he’ll be removed from many more cases in the future. And they’ll stop at nothing for this to happen, even if it means launching attacks on his wife.
