And a Democrat congressmember commits a major mistake by making this one jaw-dropping admission.
The ongoing government shutdown has exposed a raw nerve in Washington, where Democrats are digging in their heels to force American taxpayers to foot the bill for free health care given to illegal immigrants. It’s a move that’s sparking outrage among hardworking citizens who are already stretched thin.
Rep. Ro Khanna, a Democrat from California, let the cat out of the bag during a recent sit-down on Fox Business. He openly conceded that part of the shutdown standoff boils down to his party’s push to make it simpler for illegal aliens to tap into taxpayer-backed health benefits.
Khanna attempted to brush off the controversy, insisting that the cash flowing to undocumented individuals is barely a drop in the bucket compared to overall health spending.
“In terms of the healthcare, the reality is they are just not being honest. The amount of money that actually is going towards people who are undocumented is such a small portion of the Medicaid cuts or the Affordable Care Act, if at all,” Khanna said to Fox’s Maria Bartiromo.
He went on to double down, trying to frame the debate as mostly benefiting U.S. citizens. But that spin doesn’t hide the fact that Democrats are willing to grind government operations to a halt over this issue.
“And so we can argue that point, but the reality is, even the Vice President can acknowledge, that anyone who looks at the numbers will acknowledge this — 90 to 95 percent of the funding we’re talking about is talking about funding for American citizens,” Khanna stated.

This isn’t an isolated slip-up. Other prominent Democrats have echoed similar sentiments, revealing a pattern of putting illegal immigrants on the same pedestal as legal residents and citizens.
Take Rep. Maxine Waters, another California Democrat. Her response laid bare the inclusive agenda that’s fueling the fire.
When asked point-blank, “Are Democrats demanding health care for illegal aliens?” Waters shot back, “Democrats are demanding health care for everybody,” making it crystal clear that illegals are part of that “everybody.”
Such admissions are lighting up conservative circles, where folks are fed up with seeing their hard-earned dollars diverted to those who bypassed the legal immigration system. It’s a slap in the face to veterans, seniors, and families struggling with medical bills.
Reports from outlets like Breitbart News have crunched the numbers, and they’re staggering. If Democrats get their way, forcing taxpayers to cover free health care for illegal aliens could slam Americans with an annual tab ranging from $23 billion to a whopping $66 billion. Over a decade, that balloons to as much as $660 billion.
Already, U.S. citizens are on the hook for subsidizing around $18.5 billion in medical expenses each year for illegal immigrants residing in the country.
This shutdown isn’t about compassion; it’s about power plays that erode national sovereignty and reward lawbreakers at the expense of those who play by the rules.
As the impasse drags on, voices from the right are calling for a hard line: secure the borders first, protect American jobs and benefits, and stop the bleeding of taxpayer funds to non-citizens.
