FBI Investigates Unusual Drone Activity Near Trump’s Bedminster Golf Club
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is currently investigating a series of mysterious drone sightings over Central New Jersey, not far from President-elect Donald Trump’s Bedminster golf course.
These sightings have prompted federal aviation officials to restrict airspace in the area.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has imposed temporary flight restrictions (TFRs) over Trump National Golf Club Bedminster and the nearby Picatinny Arsenal, a U.S. Army facility in Dover, NJ.
The restrictions, which were initiated “at the request of federal security partners,” will remain in place until December 26. Reports of suspicious aerial activity date back to November 18, according to the FAA.
“Witnesses have spotted the cluster of what look to be drones and a possible fixed-wing aircraft,” the FBI’s Newark office stated in a joint release with the NJ State Police and the NJ Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness.
The statement noted that reports have come from both the public and law enforcement agencies over the past several weeks.
Nightly Drone Sightings Alarm Residents
The drones, often spotted in groups, have been seen in the vicinity of the Raritan River on a near-nightly basis over the past two weeks. A Parsippany resident described seeing as many as five drones buzzing in the sky on Sunday night.
Local authorities have assured the community that they are taking the matter seriously.
Morris County Sheriff James M. Gannon addressed public concerns in a statement: “There is no advisable immediate danger to the public at this time, and the Sheriff’s Office, along with many law enforcement agencies, are working in partnership on this matter.”
Public Asked to Assist Investigation
Sheriff Gannon has urged residents to share any high-resolution photos or footage of the “questionable flights” with law enforcement. Submissions are encouraged to be be sent to the Morris County Sheriff’s Office.
Additionally, anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI or submit tips online at tips.fbi.gov.
