Clinton despises the president. He’s her biggest rival.
But Hillary Clinton dropped jaws for handing out this rare compliment of Donald Trump.
In a stunning twist that few saw coming, Hillary Clinton — the longtime political rival of Donald J. Trump — has publicly applauded the former president for brokering what many are calling the most consequential Middle East peace breakthrough in decades.
“I really commend President Trump and his administration,” Clinton said last week when speaking CBS News 24/7.
The rare compliment from one of Trump’s fiercest critics came after Hamas unexpectedly agreed to Trump’s 20-point Gaza peace plan — a monumental step that could finally bring an end to the two-year war that has torn apart the region.
“As well as Arab leaders in the region, for making the commitment to the 20-point plan and seeing a path forward for what’s often called the day after,” Clinton said.
The deal — negotiated under Trump’s leadership and supported by key Arab nations — calls for the release of all remaining Israeli hostages and a phased withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza. In return, Hamas will surrender its weapons and step aside for a temporary international government to administer the territory.
For the people of Gaza, the agreement offers hope that has been missing for years. The concept of an independent Palestinian state remains an “aspiration,” but the clear focus is restoring peace and stability after years of terror and bloodshed.
What’s truly remarkable is that the Trump peace plan appears to have united both sides of a conflict that has defied resolution for generations. Reports from the ground describe Israelis and Gazans celebrating in cautious optimism — a scene that would have been unthinkable not long ago.
Clinton, who once pushed the Obama administration’s failed two-state solution, urged continued enforcement of Trump’s plan. She said the United States must ensure that both Israel and Gaza stick to their commitments.
“Let’s now support this process and bring it together, not just in a nonpartisan way in our own country, but literally internationally as a great global commitment to try to bring peace, security, stability and a better future to the Middle East,” Clinton stated.
It’s a remarkable turnaround for a woman who quite frankly detests Donald Trump. Now, even Clinton seems to recognize that his unconventional style of diplomacy has succeeded where Washington’s career diplomats and think-tank elites repeatedly failed.
She also acknowledged the decisive moment that turned the tide — when Israel’s strike on Hamas leaders during peace talks in Qatar in September opened the door to serious negotiations.
“That provided an opening for both President Trump and his representatives to marshal all of the regional powers, including, of course, Qatar, but also to make it clear to Israel, ‘No, this is now enough. We cannot continue this. This conflict needs to end, and we’ve got to move on,” she said.
Trump’s critics in both parties are now being forced to confront a reality they long denied: the former president’s direct, hard-nosed approach to diplomacy delivers results.
Whether it was pressuring NATO allies, confronting China, or cutting peace deals in the Middle East, Trump consistently did what the political class said couldn’t be done.
Even within Democratic circles, cracks are starting to show. Jake Sullivan, the former national security advisor to Joe Biden, gave credit to Trump. “It’s only now, after all that time, that we have gotten to a deal,” Sullivan said.
And in a rare moment of agreement, former President Barack Obama even offered praise for the peace deal in a social media post — though, true to form, he left out Trump’s name.
Whether Democrats want to admit it or not, history is likely to remember this as another Trump triumph — one that brought an end to a brutal war, saved lives on both sides, and showed that America, under strong leadership, can still be a force for real peace in the world.
