It’s no secret that Biden’s health is in decline. But now we know just how bad things really are.
And Joe Biden suffered a terrifying health scare according to this latest bombshell report.
A Starstruck Moment Gone Awry: Biden’s Encounter with Clooney
In June 2024, a Democratic fundraiser pulsed with Hollywood glamour and political fervor. George Clooney, a longtime ally of Joe Biden, co-hosted the star-studded event that raked in an impressive $30 million. Yet, beneath the dazzle, a jarring moment unfolded that left the A-lister reeling, as detailed in the forthcoming book Original Sin by Alex Thompson and Jake Tapper.
According to an excerpt gathered by the New York Post, Biden, then 81, arrived at the event visibly frail, an aide steadying him by the arm as he shuffled through the crowd, offering mechanical thanks to guests.
When he approached Clooney, a man he’d known for two decades, the president’s face betrayed no spark of recognition. “It was obvious to many standing there that the president did not know who George Clooney was,” the authors wrote.
The encounter grew more awkward. An aide softly prompted, “You know George,” to which Biden replied, “Yeah, yeah,” before adding a generic, “Thank you for being here.”
Only after the aide clarified, “George Clooney,” did Biden muster, “Oh, yeah … Hi, George!” Clooney, stunned, felt a “knot form in his stomach,” the book reveals. “Clooney was shaken to his core. The president hadn’t recognized him. A man he had known for years.”
The incident hit Clooney hard. He hadn’t seen Biden since December 2022, and the president’s decline was stark.
A Hollywood insider who witnessed the exchange called it “startling” and “not okay.” They described Biden as “like watching someone who was not alive,” noting the delayed recognition of a famous friend hosting the event was “uncomfortable” and “awful.”
The book paints a vivid picture of Biden’s struggles, describing him as “severely diminished.” Months earlier, a White House aide had confided to Clooney about efforts to improve Biden’s gait, suggesting longer steps.
But this encounter revealed a deeper issue. “This was much graver,” the authors noted. “This was the president of the United States?”
The Aftermath
The fundraiser’s fallout lingered. Just weeks later, Clooney penned a blistering op-ed, urging Biden to exit the 2024 race after a faltering debate performance against Donald Trump on June 27.
“It’s devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fundraiser was not the Joe ‘big F-ing deal’ Biden of 2010,” Clooney wrote. “He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate.”
Clooney, a loyal Democrat, didn’t hold back, declaring, “We are not going to win in November with this president.” His words echoed growing concerns about Biden’s fitness, which his family, aides, and some media had downplayed despite visible stumbles, verbal slips, and moments of pure confusion.
