The radical Left desperately wants Donald Trump to fail. But that may be a far-fetched dream for them.
And Leftists can’t believe their eyes after this bombshell report about Trump was released.
Trump’s Immigration Policies Hold Slim Voter Support Amid National Tensions
A recent NBC News Decision Desk poll reveals that President Trump’s approach to immigration remains a polarizing yet resilient aspect of his leadership, with 51% of voters approving of his handling of border security and immigration issues, compared to 49% who disapprove. This narrow margin persists despite recent unrest, including riots in Los Angeles and widespread protests over the weekend.
The Los Angeles riots erupted earlier this month following operations by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the nation’s second-largest city. In response, Trump federalized California’s National Guard, deploying them to restore order.
Meanwhile, progressive groups seized the occasion of the Army’s 250th anniversary parade to stage nationwide anti-Trump demonstrations, with immigration emerging as a central theme.
In a strategic shift, Trump recently signaled a pivot in his immigration policy, emphasizing the deportation of criminals over service workers living in the country illegally. This adjustment comes as immigration continues to be his strongest issue, according to the poll, which pegged his overall approval rating at 45%, with 55% disapproving—consistent with findings from April.
Republican Divisions Over the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act”
The poll also highlights divisions within the Republican Party over the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” Trump’s flagship legislative effort.
Voters are split on the bill’s priorities: 40% favor “ensuring that the national debt is reduced,” 39% prioritize tax cuts, and 21% support maintaining current Medicaid spending levels. A majority of Independents (53%) and Democrats (79%) advocate for preserving Medicaid funding.
Fiscal Concerns and Medicaid Cuts
The House-passed version of the bill, however, is projected to increase the national deficit by $3 trillion over the next decade, according to the Congressional Budget Office. To offset tax cuts, it slashes $1.25 trillion from programs like Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
Notably, the bill imposes work requirements on Medicaid, which serves over 70 million low-income Americans, potentially leading to 7.8 million people losing coverage over the next 10 years, according to the Congressional Budget Office. These changes are expected to yield $700 billion in savings from Medicaid alone.
Senate Pushback and Legislative Challenges
Fiscal conservatives in the Senate, including Sens. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), Rick Scott (R-Fla.), and Mike Lee (R-Utah), are pushing for deeper cuts to curb the deficit.
The bill’s fiscal impact sparked a fiery critique from tech billionaire Elon Musk, who publicly clashed with Trump earlier in June. Within the Senate GOP, Sens. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), and Susan Collins (R-Maine) have raised concerns about the Medicaid provisions, complicating the bill’s path forward.
GOP leaders aim to deliver the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” to Trump’s desk by July 4, though this timeline appears increasingly ambitious. Key Senate committees are set to release revised drafts this week, after which the bill must return to the House for final approval.
The NBC News Decision Desk Poll, conducted from May 30 to June 10, surveyed 19,410 adults with a margin of error of ±2.1 percentage points.
