Donald Trump has already had two attempts on his life. Now more could be on the way.

And the Secret Service is on red alert after Trump was hit with this assassination threat.

Secret Service Investigates Former FBI Director James Comey Over Alleged Threat Against President Trump

The Secret Service has launched an investigation into former FBI Director James Comey following accusations that he incited violence against President Donald Trump through a cryptic Instagram post. The post, which was deleted shortly after sparking outrage, featured an image of seashells arranged to form the numbers “8647,” accompanied by the caption, “Cool shell formation on my beach walk.”

The controversy erupted on Thursday when Trump administration officials and the president’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., interpreted the post as a veiled death threat. In restaurant and bar slang, “86” often means to remove or eliminate something—or someone. Given that Trump is the 47th president of the United States, critics quickly connected the dots, viewing the numbers as a coded call to harm the president.

White House deputy chief of staff Taylor Budowich condemned the post on X, writing, “While President Trump is currently on an international trip to the Middle East, the former FBI Director puts out what can clearly be interpreted as ‘a hit’ on the sitting President of the United States — a message etched in the sand. This is deeply concerning to all of us and is being taken seriously.”

Donald Trump Jr. amplified the accusations, sharing a screenshot of Comey’s post on X and stating, “Just James Comey causally [sic] calling for my dad to be m*rdered. This is who the Dem-Media worships. Demented!!!!”

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed the Secret Service’s involvement, posting on X, “Disgraced former FBI Director James Comey just called for the assassination of @POTUS Trump. DHS and Secret Service is investigating this threat and will respond appropriately.”

FBI Director Kash Patel also weighed in, noting on X that the FBI is coordinating with the Secret Service, stating, “Primary jurisdiction is with SS on these matters and we, the FBI, will provide all necessary support.”

Comey, who was dismissed by Trump early in his first term, addressed the backlash in a statement on Instagram. “I posted earlier a picture of some shells I saw today on a beach walk, which I assumed were a political message,” he said.

“I didn’t realize some folks associate those numbers with violence. It never occurred to me but I oppose violence of any kind so I took the post down.”

The former FBI director, now a crime novelist, is no stranger to controversy. He spearheaded the investigation into alleged ties between Trump’s 2016 campaign and Russia, an inquiry rooted in the now-discredited Steele dossier. His tenure and subsequent firing have fueled ongoing tensions with Trump and his supporters.

The allegations come at a sensitive time, as Trump has survived two assassination attempts in recent months. In July, a gunman shot him in the ear during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, leaving one individual dead and two others seriously injured.

Just two months later, a second would-be assassin was thwarted by a vigilant Secret Service agent after hiding near Trump’s Palm Beach, Florida, golf course with a rifle.

As the Secret Service investigates, the incident has reignited debates about political rhetoric and the power of symbols in a deeply divided nation. For now, Comey’s seashell post remains a major controversy, raising questions about intent, interpretation, and the limits of free expression.
