Everyone knows Biden’s mental and physical health is collapsing. This could be the end of the line for him.
And Biden’s 2024 campaign came screeching to a halt thanks to this high-profile Democrat.
With so many Americans dissatisfied with Biden’s job performance since taking office, many are looking at other options.
Over half (53.4%) of Americans disapprove of his presidency according to FiveThirtyEight polling averages.
That’s more disapproval than nearly every president since Truman in World War II.
Unfortunately for Democrats, they only have one viable alternative, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., so far.
But if Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA) is to be believed, Biden should be looking over his shoulder.
In a new interview, Porter hinted at a presidential bid for California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D).
Porter, who is running for Senate in California in 2024, pondered on the important players in state politics.
During the conversation, she stated that Newsom is “on a different path,” but she did not elaborate.
Porter told the Washington Post that “there are big shoes to fill in California, politically,” referring to “Sen. Feinstein ending her service, with Nancy [Pelosi] not being speaker” and Newsom’s ambitions.
She stated that Democrats may lose control of the state “if we don’t have a scrappy, strategic, strong messenger in that role.”
While Newsom has stated that he would not run for president in 2024, he has taken many steps to raise his national profile.
Earlier this year, the governor and his political action committee, Campaign for Democracy, traveled to numerous conservative states to confront “authoritarian leaders” on their home grounds.
Prior to that, Newsom launched a billboard campaign in Republican-controlled states with stringent abortion laws, promoting the practice in California.
Newsom is slated to confront Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) on Fox News in November as a surrogate for President Joe Biden.
During the event, he said he would defend Biden’s record.
Despite his support for Biden’s reelection campaign, his excursion into the national spotlight has convinced some that he may launch a last-minute primary challenge to the president, which he has categorically denied.
Newsom, who is decades younger than Biden, is seen as one of the Democratic Party’s most promising candidates in 2028.
