Pelosi and the former president did not get along well during his first presidential term. And it looks like that relationship isn’t going to improve anytime soon.
That’s because Nancy Pelosi just said this one thing about Trump that has him red with rage.
While appearing on KTTV-LA’s “News at 6 PM” on Wednesday, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said that Donald Trump “has a cognitive disorder.”
Pelosi referred to Trump’s speech at a campaign rally where he mixed up her and former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley (R) when talking about the events of January 6, 2021.
“Nikki Haley. You know, they – did you know, they destroyed all of the information, all of the evidence, everything deleted and destroyed all of it. All of it. Because of lots of things like Nikki Haley, is in charge of security,” Trump said at the campaign rally.
“We offered her ten thousand people, soldiers, National Guard whatever they want. They turned it down.”
On KKTV-LA Pelosi shot down those claims, as well as saying Trump suffers from a “cognitive disorder” for mixing up her name and Haley’s and for not getting his facts straight.
“First of all, he has a cognitive disorder. It wasn’t that he just had a slip of the tongue of using a name one time for another. Anybody can do that. But he was making a case. But really more dangerous than than getting us mixed up, more dangerous was his charge that we were not accepting his troops,” Pelosi said.
“We begged him for hours and hours. Mitch McConnell, Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, to send the National Guard and he wouldn’t do it. His his underlings, the Secretary of the Army and the Acting Secretary of the Defense wouldn’t do it.”
“For hours people suffered over well over 100 police officers were injured, people died. Then not only did he incite an insurrection, but he lied once again about, well he lied about the National Guard.”
“He caused a big problem for our country, and he is not above the law. He should pay a price for that. And he should never step foot in the White House for any purpose whatsoever,” she added.
Sure, Trump slipped up in referring to Nancy Pelosi as Nikki Haley.
But let’s not act like President Joe Biden doesn’t have slip-ups like that on a daily occurrence.
Republicans have used cognitive decline as a reason for why Biden is not qualified for a second term in the White House.
And Pelosi is trying to use that same reasoning to shut down the idea that Trump is qualified.
If you put both candidates side by side, Trump would blow Biden out of the water with how well he’s able to speak, reason, and compose himself.
Maybe this Fall, Americans will get a chance to see it for themselves when the two are on a debate stage.
But just like the last presidential election, Biden’s campaign team will probably try to hide him away so he’s not able to make a fool of himself in public.
Even Democrat allies of his, like CNN commentator Van Jones, have suggested that’s what the president should do.
