According to an NBC source, the reaction among aides was one of bewilderment: “What the hell is happening?” they reportedly questioned as Hunter unexpectedly joined multiple meetings and phone calls.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre attempted to downplay Hunter’s involvement, characterizing it as limited to Monday night when he joined a meeting in preparation for a speech on a Supreme Court ruling regarding presidential immunity.
Jean-Pierre explained that Hunter “came back with [Joe Biden]” from a weekend at Camp David and participated in the meeting and family time that evening. However, another source informed The Post that Hunter was seen in the West Wing again on Tuesday morning, suggesting a more sustained presence.
The Biden family’s internal strife over debate preparations, reportedly involving long-time advisers such as former White House chief of staff Ron Klain, senior adviser Anita Dunn, and personal attorney Bob Bauer, has been highlighted in multiple press reports, including those by the New York Times and Politico.
