Donald Trump has already been targeted by two assassination attempts. But more could be on the way.

As these GOP leaders reveal ominous warnings about threats to Trump’s life.

House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell have strongly criticized Vice President Kamala Harris, accusing her of intensifying threats against former President Donald Trump.

This follows her recent comments labeling Trump a “fascist” and associating him with the Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler.

In a joint statement issued Friday, Johnson (R-La.) and McConnell (R-Ky.) voiced their concerns about Harris’s rhetoric: “Vice President Harris may want the American people to entrust her with the sacred duty of executive authority. But first, she must abandon the base and irresponsible rhetoric that endangers both American lives and institutions.”

The two Republican leaders highlighted the risks posed by Harris’s remarks, noting that they had both been “briefed on the ongoing and persistent threats to former President Donald Trump by adversaries to the United States.”

They appealed to the Vice President to “take these threats seriously, stop escalating the threat environment, and help ensure President Trump has the necessary resources to be protected from those threats.”

This statement from GOP leaders came after Harris, during a CNN town hall, affirmed her belief that Trump is a “fascist.” When asked directly, she nodded and replied, “Yes, I do. Yes, I do.”

Harris’s campaign has also circulated comments from former Trump White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, alleging that Trump has expressed admiration for Hitler and his generals.

The exchange has escalated during a politically volatile season, following a series of violent incidents targeting the former president.

Over the summer, Trump was wounded by a would-be assassin during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, and later, an assailant almost fired shots at him while he was golfing at his West Palm Beach, Florida, resort.

Johnson and McConnell referenced these incidents in their statement, recalling President Biden’s response to the first attack.

After the initial attempt on Trump’s life, Biden stated, “we can’t allow this violence to be normalized.”

Following a second attack, Harris herself urged Americans to prevent such events from spiraling into further violence.

However, Johnson and McConnell argued that these earlier calls for civility have been contradicted by Harris’s recent comments.

“In the weeks since that second sobering reminder, the Democratic nominee for President of the United States has only fanned the flames beneath a boiling cauldron of political animus,” they stated.

“Her most recent and most reckless invocations of the darkest evil of the 20th century seem to dare it to boil over.”

They also alluded to remarks from the would-be assassin who targeted Trump in Florida, who reportedly urged others to “finish the job.”

In their statement, Johnson and McConnell emphasized the risks of characterizing a political opponent as a “fascist,” suggesting that such words might inspire further violence and deprive voters of their choice before Election Day.
