The GOP has gotten a clean sweep this election cycle. But it may not be over yet.
And this 2024 election recount news has the Republican Party panicking.
Ever since 2020, Democrats have been criticizing Republicans for being so-called election deniers. They believe that you should accept the results of an election no matter what, even if the results are close enough for a recount.
This of course ignores all the times Democrats have denied their election losses over the decadse.
But if you don’t accept the results immediately, you’re seen as a threat to democracy by the radical Left. Yet one of their Senate candidates isn’t quite ready to concede his race that has basically been called by most media outlets. And now that race is going to a recount which could overturn this Republican’s significant victory.
Pennsylvania Senate Race Going To A Recount
A Pennsylvania Senate race between Republican challenger Dave McCormick and Democratic incumbent Sen. Bob Casey is so close that state election officials have confirmed it will head to a recount.
The Pennsylvania Department of State announced Wednesday evening that McCormick’s narrow lead had fallen within the margin that triggers a recount under state law. According to the latest data, just 29,338 votes, or 0.43%, separate the two candidates.
Earlier this week, with 99% of the ballots processed, the Associated Press called the race for McCormick. However, Sen. Casey, who has not conceded, suggested the AP may have moved too soon.
In Pennsylvania, races decided by less than 0.5% of the total votes are automatically eligible for a recount. Casey, choosing to pursue this option, has set in motion a process expected to cost taxpayers over $1 million.
The recount is scheduled to begin on November 20 and must conclude by November 26.
“Senator Casey wants all Pennsylvanians’ voices to be heard as local county elections officials continue to count votes,” Casey’s campaign manager, Tiernan Donohu, stated on Wednesday morning.
“This democratic process must be allowed to play out to determine the result of this election.”
The McCormick campaign, however, was quick to criticize the recount, calling it unnecessary.
“Senator-elect McCormick’s lead is insurmountable, which the AP made clear in calling the race. A recount will be a waste of time and taxpayer money, but it is Senator Casey’s prerogative. Senator-elect McCormick knows what it’s like to lose an election and is sure Senator Casey will eventually reach the right conclusion,” McCormick’s spokeswoman, Elizabeth Gregory, said in a statement.
McCormick, who has already arrived in Washington, D.C., for freshman Senate orientation, may be hoping to settle into his new role without the looming uncertainty of a recount.

However, the latest developments could disrupt these plans, as this marks the second time in two years that he has faced a recount.
In 2022, McCormick’s GOP primary race went into a recount after he narrowly lost to Mehmet Oz by about 1,000 votes.
