Everyone knew the media was doing everything they could to push Kamala Harris to the finish line. But no one knew just how far they were willing to go.
And this Leftist media host has made a stunning confession about their role in the failed Harris campaign.
In a candid discussion during The View’s “Behind the Table” podcast, cohost Sunny Hostin revealed how what was intended to be a softball question for Vice President Kamala Harris ultimately backfired, potentially influencing the 2024 presidential election outcome.
Hostin acknowledged that her question may have unintentionally contributed to Harris’ loss to President-elect Donald Trump.
Hostin recounted the moment she asked Harris if there was anything “she would have done differently” from President Joe Biden over the past four years. Harris’ response — “there is not a thing that comes to mind” — took Hostin by surprise and was quickly seized upon by Trump’s campaign for nationwide advertising.
“I followed up because I was surprised at the answer,” Hostin admitted on the podcast. “Look, I think it wasn’t so much about the question, but it was really more about the answer. The reason I followed up was because that wasn’t a gotcha question. That was a layup, really.”
Hostin explained that the question was an opportunity for Harris to position herself as a “change agent” and distinguish her leadership style from Biden’s. Hostin expected the VP to emphasize her unique experiences and to frame her vision as an extension of their administration’s successes.
“I thought she would then say, ‘I would build on the wins we’ve had,’ and I had a laundry list of wins in my head,” Hostin said. “And she didn’t answer it that way, she said not a thing comes to mind.”
While Harris’ response highlighted her loyalty to Biden, Hostin acknowledged it failed to deliver the impactful messaging Harris needed in that moment.

Hostin refrained from passing judgment on whether Harris’ answer was the right choice. “I will just say I was surprised at the answer because it was a question that really could have inured to her benefit, it was a question that could have been a change maker,” she said.
She also dismissed claims that the moment was orchestrated to undermine Harris’ campaign. “But again, it was not planned to tank her run,” she clarified, countering accusations from figures like James Carville that she wielded undue influence over the election.
Throughout the campaign, Hostin remained a steadfast supporter of Harris, often defending her against criticism and dismissing concerning polling data. For instance, she brushed off an NBC poll showing Harris’ diminishing support after the September 10 debate.
“Look, I think that Kamala Harris has been running a flawless campaign,” Hostin said, emphasizing the VP’s impressive fundraising achievements.
“I think it’s because people believe in her, and I think people are showing that by the amount of money that they are willing to give to the campaign.”
Hostin also voiced frustration with media narratives she believed unfairly targeted Harris. “I think we have the press to blame for a lot of this,” she remarked.
“Whoopi, you always say that you don’t believe in polls. I’m with you now, because I’m reading the press. First it was, ‘Kamala’s not doing enough press.’ Then she goes on this huge press tour, she was here, with us, I thought she was fantastic.”
This whole scenario involving Sunny Hostin’s softball question to Kamala Harris, only proves just how flawed of a candidate Harris really was.
The mainstream media was literally trying to help her during interviews and through their positive coverage of her, and she still wasn’t able to defeat Donald Trump in the presidential election.
