The Democrat Party didn’t see this coming. They’ve been completely blindsided.
And these top Leftists team up with the GOP in a move that has Democrats ripping their hair out.
Democrats have announced their roster for the House Oversight Subcommittee on the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), declaring their intent to “fight back” against potential cuts to critical federal programs.
The subcommittee was established through an executive order on Monday, fulfilling a key promise of former President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign. Its stated purpose is to reduce government waste and improve transparency in federal spending.
Rep. Melanie Stansbury, D-N.M., shared on X Tuesday that she will serve as the subcommittee’s ranking member. Joining her are Reps. Stephen Lynch, D-Mass.; Robert Garcia, D-Calif.; Greg Casar, D-Texas; Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas; and Eleanor Holmes Norton, a non-voting congressional delegate for Washington, D.C., according to Politico. Additionally, Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-Va., ranking member of the full Oversight and Government Reform Committee, will participate as an ex officio.
Stansbury pledged to “use every tool available to work across the aisle and combat policies that are harmful to Americans.”
She emphasized in a video on X that Democrats are “100% in” on DOGE if its efforts genuinely enhance government efficiency and improve the functioning of federal agencies.
However, she warned that if the subcommittee becomes a platform for “political theater to do the bidding of President Trump and his billionaire allies,” Democrats are ready to “fight back.”
“I know what good government looks like and am not afraid to fight for it,” Stansbury said in a statement reported by Politico. “At the same time, I am prepared to fight to protect the vital programs, services, and employees that keep our communities safe and the economy running.”
Rep. Robert Garcia, D-Calif., echoed Stansbury’s sentiments, criticizing Republican plans to cut key federal programs, including Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.
He accused Republicans of prioritizing tax cuts for billionaires and large corporations.
Garcia also took direct aim at Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., who chairs the subcommittee, stating that she and her allies are advancing a “radical agenda” that threatens essential programs for seniors, veterans, and public education.
“We’re ready to fight back on day one, call out attempts to slash our social safety net, and make sure we take care of working families and the middle class,” Garcia said.
Greene, meanwhile, highlighted the experience and dedication of Republican members selected to serve on the subcommittee.
The GOP roster includes Reps. Pat Fallon, R-Texas; William Timmons, R-S.C.; Brandon Gill, R-Texas; Brian Jack, R-Ga.; Tim Burchett, R-Tenn.; Eric Burlison, R-Mo.; and Michael Cloud, R-Texas.
“Together, we will strive to eliminate waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement within federal agencies, ensuring that the government operates efficiently and transparently for the American people,” Greene stated.
In a related development, former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy is stepping down from his role at DOGE, where he had been appointed alongside Elon Musk in November to help guide the agency. According to a Fox News source, Ramaswamy is expected to announce his candidacy for Ohio governor next week.
Ramaswamy’s departure aligns with the agency’s structural rules, which require him to step away while pursuing elected office.
