Failed Presidential candidate Kamala Harris has been quiet. But now she’s back in the spotlight.
Because Kamala Harris took a jab at Donald Trump and raised eyebrows during this unexpected speech.
Kamala Harris Reflects on Democracy’s Challenges at the NAACP Image Awards
In an interesting address at the 56th NAACP Image Awards, former Vice President Kamala Harris delivered a speech about the state of American democracy, seemingly taking jabs at Donald Trump and his current administration. Receiving the Chairman’s Award at the event, Harris lamented the “shadows gathering over our democracy,” emphasizing the need for continued action in the face of rising challenges.
The event, held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, marked Harris’s first major public speech since her loss to President Trump in the 2024 election. Reflecting on the history of the NAACP, Harris reminded the audience of the organization’s inception during a time of profound societal division, where greed, hatred, and bitterness dominated the nation during the first half of the twentieth century. She noted that the founders of the NAACP, as well as those who carried its legacy forward, understood the steep road they were embarking upon.
“This organization came into being at a moment when our country struggled with greed, bitterness and hatred, and those who forged the NAACP, those who carried its legacy forward had no illusions about the forces they were up against, no illusions about how stony the road would be,” Harris said.
The former Vice President acknowledged the current climate and the struggles many Americans are facing, referencing the “flames on our horizons” and the “rising waters in our cities.” She framed these as symbols of the greater existential threats facing democracy itself, prompting the question: “What do we do now?”
Harris’s remarks were met with a standing ovation from the crowd, signaling widespread support for her message of resilience in the face of adversity. Her call to action was both stirring and emphatic as she urged people not to sit idle but to take charge of their future.
“This chapter will be written, not simply by whoever occupies the Oval Office, nor by the wealthiest among us,” Harris asserted, in an apparent reference to the Trump administration and Elon Musk’s leadership of the Department of Government Efficiency. “The American story will be written by you, written by us, by We the People.”
“But we know exactly what to do because we have done it before, and we will do it again. We use our power, we organize, mobilize, we educate and we advocate,” Harris declared. “Our power has never come from having an easy path. Our strength flows from our faith, faith in God, faith in each other, and our refusal to surrender to cynicism and destruction—not because it is easy, but because it is necessary, not because victory is guaranteed, but because the fight is worth it.”
Democrats Not Learning From Their Mistakes Apparently
The American people don’t want to hear about how “anti-democratic” Donald Trump and his allies are. The Trump-Derangement Syndrome has become annoying to vast swaths of average Americans in key swing states, as evidenced by the results of the 2024 election. Donald Trump won every single swing state for a reason.
Simply put, voters in those swing states don’t remotely trust Democrats anymore and have grown disaffected by the radicalism of the Left. They played the “democracy at risk” fiddle throughout the entirety of the 2024 election cycle, but it simply didn’t work. Not only that, but Americans watched as Democrats threw “democracy” out the window when they staged a coup against the sitting President, Joe Biden, and lied about it so they could get anyone else on the ballot.
Despite all this having taken place just several months ago, Democrats have apparently already forgotten this. Kamala Harris is just once again trying to play the game of clutching pearls and calling Donald Trump a threat to democracy. It’s not just Harris, either. All the top Democrat Party officials have seemingly not learned a thing after the 2024 election.
On a second note, Kamala Harris has reportedly been eyeing a second chance at winning a general election with her eyes set on a 2028 candidacy. Kamala Harris allies have shared with reporters that the current plan for her would be to win the California gubernatorial race in 2026, then try her hand again at running for President in 2028. Whether she would even make the general election in 2028 is still a big question.
In 2020, Kamala Harris did run for President but she never even made it to the first primary contests. Former Democrat, Tulsi Gabbard, is largely credited with sinking the Harris campaign ship when she exposed Harris’ hypocritical history as a prosecutor for the state of California.
