Obama still wields significant power whether you like it or not. He’s trying to use that power to get what he wants.
And Barack Obama was found meddling in this crucial election.
Obama Backs Liberal Judge in High-Stakes Wisconsin Supreme Court Race
On Tuesday, former President Barack Obama threw his support behind Judge Susan Crawford, a liberal contender vying for a seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Crawford is squaring off against Brad Schimel, a conservative former state attorney general, in a contest that could tip the scales of the court, which currently holds a slim 4-3 liberal edge. Obama took to X to rally support, framing the election as a critical moment for the state’s residents.
“If you live in Wisconsin – or have friends or family who do – there’s an important Supreme Court race happening right now. And there’s only one candidate ready to protect the fundamental rights and freedoms of Wisconsinites: Judge Susan Crawford,” Obama declared in his post. He emphasized that the stakes couldn’t be higher, with “fundamental rights” hanging in the balance.

We’ve all seen how important…

The April 1 showdown has already shattered records, raking in roughly $76 million according to WisPolitics, making it the priciest state Supreme Court race ever. The outcome could shape rulings on hot-button issues like election maps, abortion access, voter ID requirements, and union policies. With heavy hitters like leftist billionaire George Soros bankrolling Crawford and Elon Musk’s America PAC pumping out ads for Schimel, the contest has drawn national attention.
Dueling Endorsements and Sharp Contrasts
Obama’s nod to Crawford comes hot on the heels of former President Donald Trump’s endorsement of Schimel last Friday. Trump, posting on Truth Social, painted Crawford as a “Radical Left Democrat” bent on undoing tough-on-crime policies and pushing progressive causes.
“In the Great State of Wisconsin, a Radical Left Democrat, one who is insistent on bringing hardened CRIMINALS, that we removed to far away places, back into our Country, allowing men into women’s sports, Open Borders, and more, is running against a strong, Common Sense Republican, JUST CALL HIM BRAD, for the Wisconsin Supreme Court,” Trump wrote, urging his base to vote early.
Wisconsin GOP Executive Director Andrew Iverson seized on Obama’s move, arguing it exposes Crawford’s reliance on “out-of-state liberals.” “A vote for Susan Crawford is a vote for a Dangerously Liberal Democrat agenda,” Iverson warned. He touted Schimel’s deep roots in the state, pointing to endorsements from over 80 Wisconsin sheriffs, Trump, farmers, sportsmen, and small business owners. “Schimel’s support shows he will protect hard-working Wisconsinites and put our values first,” Iverson added.
A Flood of Cash and a Spotlight on Records
The race has turned into a financial slugfest. Soros and other liberal megadonors have poured money into Crawford’s campaign, while Musk’s ads have zeroed in on her judicial track record. One ad highlights a case where Crawford sentenced a man convicted of s*xually assaulting two young girls in a pool to just four years in prison—a fraction of the maximum penalty and far below what prosecutors sought. Critics say it’s a pattern, accusing her of leniency toward s*x offenders that puts communities at risk.
Schimel, meanwhile, has leaned on his law-and-order credentials as a former attorney general, positioning himself as a guardian of “normalcy” against what he and his backers call Crawford’s radical leanings. With early voting underway, both sides are mobilizing furiously for what promises to be a defining moment for Wisconsin’s highest court.
Why Susan Crawford Could Spell Trouble for Wisconsinites
For many in the state, Crawford’s judicial history raises red flags. Her tendency to hand down lighter sentences for serious crimes, like the pool assault case, suggests a softness on offenders that could embolden criminals and leave victims without justice. Wisconsin families, already grappling with rising crime in some areas, might find her approach a direct threat to their safety. If she secures a seat, the court’s liberal tilt could lock in rulings that prioritize rehabilitation over punishment, potentially flooding streets with repeat offenders.
Beyond crime, Crawford’s alignment with out-of-state progressive forces—exemplified by Obama and Soros—hints at an agenda that might clash with Wisconsin’s heartland values. Her critics fear she’d back policies weakening voter ID laws, redrawing election maps to favor Democrats, and expanding abortion access beyond what many residents support.
These moves could reshape the state’s political landscape for years, sidelining the voices of working-class voters who prize stability and tradition.
Economically, Crawford’s potential influence on union reform cases could hit Wisconsinites in their wallets. A court swayed by her vote might roll back measures that have kept the state business-friendly, driving up costs for small employers and stifling job growth. For a state built on farming, manufacturing, and grit, her presence on the bench could usher in a wave of uncertainty—favoring elite liberal interests over the everyday needs of its people.
