Problems keep arising for the Left. It’s one thing after another for them.
And a blue state that’s in danger of being taken over has Democrats panicked.
Minnesota’s political scene is heating up as Senator Amy Klobuchar weighs jumping into the governor’s race. This comes right after Governor Tim Walz threw in the towel on seeking a third term, all while fraud scandals rock the state. According to reports from The New York Times, Klobuchar is mulling over her options in this chaotic environment.
Klobuchar didn’t waste time showing her support for Walz. She met with him on Sunday and fired off a defense on X the next day. In her post, she praised his choice to step back.
“Governor Walz made the difficult decision to focus on his job and the challenges facing our state rather than campaigning and running for reelection. He has always dedicated his career to delivering for Minnesota — from providing school breakfast and lunches to our kids to passing gun safety legislation to maintaining our state’s AAA bond rating. He is a true public servant,” she said.
If Klobuchar decides to run for governor and wins, that would leave her Senate seat wide open. Even better for Democrats, she’d get to pick her own replacement, stacking the deck in their favor.
Meanwhile, the Senate race to replace retiring Senator Tina Smith is already a mess. It’s a fierce Democratic primary fight between Representative Angie Craig and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan.
Flanagan isn’t letting the governor drama distract her. On X Monday, she made her priorities clear.
She stated on the social media site that she’s “focused on [her] race for U.S. Senate to ensure people can afford the lives they want to live.”
Craig chimed in too, thanking Walz for his “service” to Minnesota. She stressed that the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party “must nominate the strongest possible candidate in every race on the ballot in November” to push back against Trump’s administration.
Republicans smell blood in the water. Walz’s exit, combined with those massive fraud scandals, has them fired up about flipping Minnesota red.
Remember, President Donald Trump came close in 2024, losing the state by just over 4%. Klobuchar, on the other hand, cruised to victory by nearly 16% against GOP challenger Royce White.
The Republican Governors Association isn’t holding back. Their communications director, Courtney Alexander, slammed Walz hard in a statement Monday.
“After presiding over one of the biggest fraud scandals in history, it’s no wonder that Tim Walz is being forced to drop his re-election bid. Walz’s failed leadership is emblematic of Minnesota Democrats’ agenda and whoever Democrats choose to replace Walz with at the top of the ticket will need to defend years of mismanagement and misplaced priorities,” Alexander stated.
GOP optimism extends to the Senate side as well. Whispers are growing that former sportscaster Michelle Tafoya might throw her hat in the ring.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee is piling on, blasting Minnesota Democrats for their failures. Regional Press Secretary Nick Puglia didn’t hold back on Monday.
“The seriously retired Governor Tim Walz and Minnesota Democrats like Peggy Flanagan and Angie Craig oversaw massive fraud that has hurt Minnesotans, and their failed leadership puts Minnesota in play for Republicans in 2026,” Puglia stated.
Despite the hype, Cook Political Report still labels both the Senate and gubernatorial races as “Likely Democrat.” That’s a tough hill for Republicans to climb.
But with scandals piling up and Democrats scrambling, 2026 could be the year Republicans break through in the North Star State.
And many everyday Minnesotans are fed up with the mismanagement—it’s time for real change.
