Joe Biden has opened the floodgates at the southern border. But not everyone is standing idly by while we’re invaded.
And Border Patrol just blew up Biden’s secret scheme at the southern border.
According to a recent House Republican analysis, the migrant issue presently affecting the border and America’s main cities might wind up costing taxpayers up to $451 billion.
The House Homeland Security Committee calculated the costs to taxpayers of illegal migrants who were freed or escaped from detention in a study released on Monday.
“Every day, millions of American taxpayer dollars are spent on costs directly associated with illegal immigration and the unprecedented crisis at the Southwest border sparked by Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ policies,” reads the report.
“Only a small fraction is ever recouped from the taxes paid by illegal aliens, with the rest falling on the shoulders of American citizens and lawful residents,” the report states.
According to the report, each taxpayer is on the line for an average of $956 as a result of illegal immigration.
The 50-page analysis examined federal and state data, media publications, nonprofit reports, and other publicly available information.
The cost of government housing and care for all migrants who have entered the United States since 2021 could end up being as high as $451 billion per year, according to the report, which cites figures from the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS), a think tank that describes its vision as “pro-immigrant, low-immigration.”
According to a research by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), an organization that works to limit illegal immigration, the federal, state, and local costs of illegal immigration amount nearly $182 billion per year.
Back in 2017, the cost was $135 billion, FAIR found.
Illegal immigrants make only a $31 billion dent in that cost with their tax revenue, the group said.
The study used numbers from FAIR to show that education costs for at least 3.8 million illegal immigrants who don’t speak English well add up to $59 billion.
According to data from the National Institute of Corrections and the Justice Department, state police costs for illegal immigration have grown to $19 billion, up from $10.5 billion in 2017.
The report also stated that the opioid problem cost $1.5 trillion in 2020 alone, with fentanyl rushing over the border via drug traffickers being a major contributor.
There are currently between 16.8 million and 29 million illegal migrants living in the country, the report says, citing numbers from FAIR and Yale University.
According to the figures, around 3.8 million of them migrants entered the country during the Biden administration.
Some of those migrants are the 900,000 people who entered the country legally and applied for asylum before they were released, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data shows.
In addition, Mayorkas stated during a congressional session last month that over 600,000 migrants have entered the country without being arrested by border agents since October of last year.
