Schumer is in a bad spot right now. He’s lost his Senate majority power and now he’s taking lumps from the White House.

And Chuck Schumer was hit with a brutal takedown from Trump’s White House press secretary.

Leavitt Slams Schumer Over Trump Blame in Delta Crash

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has sharply criticized Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) after he suggested that President Trump bore some responsibility for the Delta Air Lines jet that crashed in Toronto, Canada earlier this week.

Leavitt’s response came just hours after Schumer appeared to link the harrowing incident to recent cuts in the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) workforce under the Trump administration.

“It’s incredibly irresponsible for Chuck Schumer to say such a thing when the investigation is still underway,” Leavitt said to Fox News’ America Reports on Tuesday.

She pointed out that the crash occurred in Canadian airspace under the guidance of Canadian air traffic controllers.

Schumer took to social media in the aftermath of the crash, voicing concerns over the FAA cuts while reacting to news of the Delta aircraft erupting in flames and overturning upon landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport .

“I’m thankful that everyone in the flight incident in Toronto that took off from Minneapolis is safe, but we keep seeing these incidents day after day. Meanwhile, Trump’s doing massive layoffs at the FAA—including safety specialists—and making our skies less and less safe,” Schumer said.

Anticipating pushback, he added: “To those asking whether it matters that the plane’s destination was in Canada: The flight took off from Minneapolis. The FAA was still responsible for inspecting the aviation equipment, and Trump just let go of FAA safety specialists.”

Leavitt was quick to push back, emphasizing that Canadian air traffic controllers were in charge at the time of the crash and that the Trump administration had not laid off any air traffic controllers.

“In fact, Secretary Duffy has put great emphasis on hiring the best and the brightest air-traffic controllers who want to be part of the FAA,” she said.

She also turned the criticism back on the Biden administration, accusing it of neglecting aviation safety issues for four years.

Leavitt’s remarks came as investigators worked to determine whether weather conditions, human error, or mechanical failure played a role in the Delta plane’s terrifying landing.

Shocking footage from the scene captured the moment the aircraft hit the runway with such force that its right wing was torn off as it skidded across the snow-covered tarmac. Moments later, the jet, which had departed from Minneapolis, erupted into flames before flipping over.

Thankfully, all passengers and crew members survived the ordeal.
