The federal government has stepped in it big time. And supporters of Donald Trump have the right to be furious.

Whistleblower Complaints Reveal FEMA Discriminated Against Trump Supporters in Hurricane Relief Efforts

The House Oversight Committee on Monday spotlighted whistleblower allegations that FEMA discriminated against Trump supporters during disaster response efforts following this year’s devastating hurricanes.

These revelations have raised serious concerns about political bias within the federal agency tasked with aiding Americans during times of crisis.

As the 118th Congress concludes, the committee shared its “TOP OVERSIGHT HEARING MOMENTS” on X, highlighting key investigations of the past two years.

Among them was a story first reported by The Daily Wire in November, which revealed that a FEMA supervisor in Florida had instructed relief workers to skip homes displaying support for Donald Trump. The committee noted that a whistleblower also informed Oversight Chair James Comer (R-KY) of similar incidents occurring in Georgia.

“In October 2024, [The Daily Wire] exposed that a FEMA employee directed workers to bypass pro-Trump homes. During a hearing on that topic, Chairman James Comer (@RepJamesComer) revealed a brand-new whistleblower in a different state, which blew apart the FEMA Administrator’s claim that it was an isolated incident,” the committee wrote on X.

The original report detailed that FEMA supervisor Marn’i Washington instructed relief workers in Lake Placid, Florida, to “avoid homes advertising Trump.”

As a result, about 20 homes impacted by Hurricane Milton were reportedly bypassed for assistance. FEMA responded by terminating Washington and dispatching workers back to Lake Placid to ensure all affected residents had access to hurricane aid.

FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell acknowledged earlier this month that multiple federal investigations are underway to address allegations of political discrimination.

FEMA’s Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR), the U.S. Office of Special Counsel, and the Department of Homeland Security’s Inspector General are currently conducting these investigations.

Last month, while Criswell was questioned about Washington’s guidance, Comer revealed a whistleblower account from Georgia, where a FEMA supervisor allegedly instructed a family to remove their Trump campaign signs to avoid negative treatment by the agency.

“My staff made contact with a new whistleblower who provided a credible account that a FEMA contractor visited the home of an elderly disabled veteran’s family around October 10 following Hurricane Helene,” Comer stated.

“While there he recommended that they remove Trump campaign materials and signs from both their house and yard. He warned the family that his FEMA supervisor does not take kindly to Trump supporters and that they are seen as domestic terrorists.”

Criswell responded by saying she was unaware of these allegations and requested additional details from the committee.

Further whistleblower accounts presented to the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure claimed that “entire” neighborhoods in North Carolina were ignored during hurricane relief efforts if workers encountered signs with slogans such as “Make America Great Again,” “Drain the Swamp,” or “Don’t Tread on Me.”

These allegations of political bias within FEMA have sparked widespread criticism and prompted calls for accountability.

The ongoing investigations will determine the full extent of the reported misconduct and its implications for future disaster relief efforts.
