Democrat presidential candidate ends campaign in a move that left jaws dropped

There’s been no shortage of surprises this election cycle. But this was the last thing anyone expected.

And a Democrat presidential candidate ends their campaign in a move that left jaws dropped.

After a miserable performance in the Nevada Democratic primary on Tuesday, self-help author Marianne Williamson officially suspended her 2024 presidential campaign.

Williamson was also a Democrat candidate in 2020 as well.

With 99% of the votes in, President Joe Biden gathered in 89.4% of the vote in Nevada while Williamson was able to get just 3.0%, according to NBC News.

The option “none of these candidates” actually performed better than Williamson by getting 5.6% of the vote.

Her announcement came via an email to her supporters.

“I read a quote the other day that said that sunsets are proof that endings can be beautiful too,” Williamson said in the email that featured a video of her speaking about her decision to drop out of the race.

“And so today, even though it is time to suspend my campaign for the presidency, I do want to see the beauty.”

The Democratic primary in South Carolina on February 3 was more of the same for Williamson.

She only got 2.1% of the vote compared to Biden who got 96.2%

Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN) did worse than Williamson however, only earning 1.7%.

But after that poor showing in the Palmetto State, she still seemed poised to stay in the race and fight for votes from Democrats.

“Thank you to all the South Carolinians who voted for me in yesterday’s primary. Your faith in the possibilities offered by the campaign has been very moving to me. I will not forget your support, and I wish you all the best,” Williamson said in a post on X.

But despite her optimism, it was clear that Biden was always going to mop the floor with her in the primary.

And even though the president is being challenged by several long-shot Democrat candidates, he’s still expected to become the party’s nominee headed into November.

That doesn’t mean Democrats still aren’t thinking of a back up plan to replace him however, especially as his approval ratings keep sinking.

Williamson didn’t fit the needs of Leftists who think there’s better options to replace Biden.

But maybe another Democrat will pop up at the last minute and be that option for the Left.
