Former President Trump is focused on the 2024 election. He’s been handed a major setback, however.
Because Donald Trump was hit with this blindsiding betrayal that left him furious.
Whatever your opinion of former President and GOP nominee for president Donald Trump, it is certain that he places a high importance on loyalty.
Mike Pence, a former vice president, recently testified before a federal grand jury looking into Donald Trump’s alleged efforts to hold onto power after the 2020 election.
Pence’s testimony is a significant milestone in Special Counsel Jack Smith’s probe into Trump’s actions leading up to the 2020 presidential election and the Capitol demonstration on January 6, 2021.
The Hill claims that Pence testified for several hours in a courtroom in Washington, D.C.
Regarding the consequences from the 2020 election, Pence has insisted without wavering that he has nothing to hide from the investigators.
Up until recently, Pence contested Smith’s subpoena for his testimony.
Pence rightly said that he was a member of the legislature on the day of the riots due to his role as the former president of the Senate, and that the “speech and debate” section of the Constitution would protect him from the subpoena.
Early in April, a federal judge determined that Pence was had to testify about Trump’s attempts to invalidate the results of the 2020 election, but that he would not be required to testify about his involvement in Congress.
The scene was set for Pence’s testimony, which was likely to center on the specifics of Trump’s discussions and actions in the months around the November election and January 6, after he made the decision not to appeal the judge’s decision.
Trump informed Pence he had the unilateral authority to reject the Electoral College findings and believed the election was rigged on numerous occasions.
In his autobiography, Pence discussed some of the discussions he had with Trump in the days before January 6.
Pence wrote specifically about the pressure Trump applied to him to think about rejecting the outcome of the 2020 election.
Because he maintained that the Constitution did not grant him the unilateral authority to thwart the decision of the people, Pence finally certified the results.
Pence has intensified his criticism of Trump since leaving office, starting on January 6.
Pence is reportedly thinking about running for president in 2024, which would place him squarely against Trump once more.
But given that he leads even Ron DeSantis in national polls, Pence may not even register as a concept in Trump’s head.
In the polls, Pence has not captured 10%. A sign that his candidacy could be over before it begins.
