Republicans are grinning ear to ear after hearing this news. They have positive momentum heading into election day.
And an early election victory for the GOP has the Harris campaign at their wits’ end.
This presidential election, all eyes will be on the key battleground state of Pennsylvania.
Both Donald Trump and Kamala Harris view this state as a must win if they are hoping to win the White House this fall.
But thanks to the hard work of Republicans, Trump could very well be in position to earn the 19 electoral votes from the Keystone State once everyone has casted their ballots.
GOP Voter Registration Soars In Pennsylvania
Republicans are making strides in the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania, showing a clear advantage over Democrats in new voter registrations this year.
According to a recent report from Axios, Republicans added 19,127 new voters in July, compared to the 17,495 new voters registered by Democrats. The trend extends beyond just July — for the year so far, Republicans have outpaced Democrats in total new voter registrations, leading 94,603 to 87,325.
This shift is particularly evident in Bucks County, a critical area northeast of Philadelphia. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, for the first time in 15 years, Republicans are leading Democrats in new voter registration there.
As Bucks County GOP Chair Pat Poprik noted, “It’s a morale booster, it’s something we’ve been targeting for years.” The GOP’s efforts in this pivotal county may signal changing dynamics in Pennsylvania’s broader political landscape.
Despite these recent gains for Republicans, Democrats still hold a slight edge in the state’s total registered voters. With 3.9 million registered Democrats compared to 3.5 million Republicans, the overall numbers still favor the Democratic Party.
However, the new voter registration momentum could play a significant role in Pennsylvania’s importance in the 2024 election.
The state is seen as one of the most crucial battlegrounds in the upcoming presidential race.
In the 2020 election, President Joe Biden secured Pennsylvania by over 81,000 votes, including a narrow 17,000-vote lead in Bucks County. In contrast, Donald Trump won the state in 2016 by more than 44,000 votes, nearly matching Hillary Clinton’s total in Bucks County.
In response to the shifting political tides, the Trump campaign is heavily focusing its efforts on Pennsylvania, emphasizing the importance of early and absentee voting. The campaign recently launched SwampTheVoteUSA.com, aimed at encouraging Pennsylvania Republicans to participate in mail-in voting.
According to RNC Chairman Michael Whatley, the initiative “will make it faster, easier, and more secure than ever for patriots in the Keystone State to deliver their mail ballots for President Trump.” Whatley described this as a “crucial, cutting-edge development” that will bolster the Republican ground game in Pennsylvania.
Former President Trump has also been highly active in the state, holding multiple campaign rallies in recent months. One of the most notable rallies took place in Butler, where a would-be assassin attempted to attack Trump on July 13.
Undeterred, Trump is set to return to Pennsylvania this Friday for another rally in Johnstown. His running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH), has also made his presence known in the state, with several stops, including an upcoming event at a shipping and warehousing company in Erie.
As the 2024 election looms, polling in Pennsylvania remains tight. According to RealClearPolitics, Trump is neck-and-neck with Vice President Kamala Harris, making the state’s outcome anything but certain.
