Florida fights back against Biden/Harris administration for targeting Trump supporters

Joe Biden has already deemed Donald Trump’s supporters as garbage. But that isn’t even the worst thing he and his admin has done to them.

And Florida is fighting back against the Biden/Harris administration for targeting Trump supporters.

Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody has filed a lawsuit against current and former officials at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), accusing them of “conspiring to interfere with the civil rights of Trump voters” by deliberately withholding aid in the aftermath of Hurricanes Helene and Milton.

The explosive legal action follows shocking claims that FEMA employees were instructed to avoid aiding dozens of Trump-supporting households in Lake Placid, Florida. This revelation has sparked outrage and intensified scrutiny of the agency’s practices.

The scandal began to unravel after FEMA fired Marn’i Washington, a high-ranking agency supervisor. Washington has since alleged widespread systemic discrimination at FEMA, not just in Florida but nationwide.

Describing her dismissal as an effort to make her a “scapegoat,” she called the agency’s discriminatory behavior “colossal.”

“Hurricane season is not over, and the federal agency in charge of emergency response is embroiled in scandal – caught withholding aid from storm victims in Florida who support President Trump,” Moody said in her statement announcing the lawsuit.

“I am taking swift legal action to find out how far this political discrimination reaches and to make sure all Americans who fall victim to devastating storms are served, regardless of their political affiliation.”

Highlands County, home to Lake Placid, is a staunchly Republican area where 70% of voters supported Trump in the last election.

A current FEMA official has corroborated Washington’s allegations, stating the agency has an unspoken practice of bypassing Trump-supporting households or even entire areas considered “white or conservative-dominated.” This alleged pattern of political favoritism has reportedly persisted for years.

FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell, who is named in the lawsuit, addressed the controversy during Washington’s termination. She condemned the practice of skipping homes based on political affiliation, stating it was a violation of FEMA’s “core values and principles.”

Criswell pledged to ensure such behavior is eradicated within the agency.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis also weighed in, expressing outrage over FEMA’s alleged misconduct. “It’s unacceptable for the federal government to discriminate against Floridians who voted for Trump, and especially egregious in the aftermath of a hurricane,” DeSantis said in a press release.

“I’m supportive of this legal action by the Attorney General’s Office, and I have instructed state agencies to likewise take any action necessary to investigate and ensure those who engaged in this behavior are held accountable.”

The lawsuit has drawn national attention, with Congressional Republicans pledging to investigate FEMA’s actions.

“This will be investigated,” vowed North Carolina Senator Ted Budd in a post on X, formerly Twitter. “Anyone who abuses the power of the federal government to hurt North Carolinians in need will be held accountable. I will personally see to it.”

Moody’s complaint details what her office describes as “the terrible facts of the civil rights violations” that occurred following the devastation of Hurricanes Helene and Milton in September and October. The legal filing seeks nominal and punitive damages for affected homeowners, as well as reimbursement for legal fees. Both Washington and Criswell are named in the suit.

When reached for comment, a FEMA spokesperson said the agency “does not comment on pending litigation” but provided a link to FEMA’s employee conduct guidelines.

As the fallout continues, questions about FEMA’s impartiality and commitment to disaster victims remain at the forefront of public discourse. With investigations looming and a legal battle underway, the agency faces mounting pressure to rebuild trust and accountability, something it will certainly have a very hard time doing moving forward.
