Former White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre showed up on Capitol Hill Friday, facing tough questions from Republicans about the massive effort to hide Joe Biden’s obvious cognitive issues. Once a fierce defender of the aging president, she’s now ditched the Democrats and is spilling secrets in a tell-all book exposing the “broken” administration she propped up. This grilling by the House Oversight Committee could finally expose the depths of the deceit that kept Biden in power far too long.
Oversight Chairman James Comer, a no-nonsense Republican from Kentucky, made it clear why they saved Jean-Pierre for last in their probe. “We intentionally wanted Jean-Pierre to be one of the last people we bring in,” he said to reporters, hinting at juicy details from her book that tie directly into the investigation.
Comer isn’t pulling punches—he plans to hammer Jean-Pierre on Kamala Harris’s own admissions in her upcoming book. Harris called it “reckless” for Biden to chase a second term, knowing full well his mental state was crumbling. How did the inner circle let this happen, and why did they keep pushing the lie that everything was fine?
The committee’s radar is also locked on the shady use of the executive autopen, which Biden allegedly abused to sign off on thousands of pardons right before slinking out of the White House in January. Some of those pardons even went to Biden family members, raising red flags about corruption at the highest levels. Republicans are demanding answers on whether this was a last-minute power grab to shield cronies from justice.
Jean-Pierre stonewalled reporters before her testimony, refusing to comment as she headed in. During her time at the podium, she repeatedly downplayed concerns about Biden’s health, dismissing viral videos of him wandering aimlessly at a global summit as nothing but “cheap fakes.” Even Democrats were whispering worries, but she kept the facade going strong.
She went on the offensive against critics, including the press corps, blasting them for highlighting Biden’s endless slip-ups and physical mishaps. In one heated exchange during Biden’s final year, she snapped that he “doesn’t need a cognitive test.” It was classic deflection, protecting the boss at all costs.
“That is not my assessment, that is the assessment of the president’s doctor, that is also the assessment of his neurologist,” Jean-Pierre insisted to reporters back in February 2024. She doubled down, claiming Biden was sharp as a tack despite the mounting evidence otherwise. Americans watching at home knew better—this was gaslighting on a national scale.
“He passes a cognitive test every day — every day — as he moves from one topic to another topic, understanding the granular level of these topics. You saw him talking about fighting crime today, tomorrow’s he’s going to the border,” she said, trying to paint Biden as some multitasking genius. But the reality? Gaffes, freezes, and confusion that embarrassed the nation on the world stage.
Biden’s doctor, Kevin O’Connor, clammed up when it mattered most, invoking the Fifth Amendment in July to dodge incriminating questions from the committee. He never faced the press about the president’s health, just issued vague written summaries of annual checkups.
Shockingly, none of Biden’s physicals involved neuro-cognitive evaluations, leaving huge gaps in assessing his fitness for office. The now-82-year-old ex-president also skipped the simple Montreal Cognitive Assessment, a quick quiz that could’ve spotted dementia early. Yet his handlers kept insisting he was fine, fooling voters along the way.
Just before Biden dropped his doomed 2024 bid, O’Connor gave a rare interview to the New York Post, declaring the president’s mental fitness as “excellent.”
Insiders have spilled that Jean-Pierre weaponized fellow spokesman Andrew Bates to bully journalists in Biden’s waning months. He was “used” to “attack” reporters sniffing around stories about her self-promotion antics using a publicist while still on the job. Those revelations only surfaced after the crew jumped ship from the sinking White House.
Fresh emails uncovered by the New York Post expose chaos over the autopen’s blanket use for commuting sentences of non-violent offenders. Top Justice Department officials and even White House staff were blindsided, with Biden supposedly giving verbal nods before the machine stamped his name. This rushed process screams of shortcuts to favor the elite.
Comer laid it out plainly before questioning Jean-Pierre: the emails “suggest that there was a process that the Biden administration was using to use the autopen that was in direct conflict with the Merrick Garland Department of Justice.”
Republicans are piecing together a puzzle of deceit and abuse of power. The inconsistencies between sworn testimonies and these messages point to outright lies.
“There are inconsistencies with what people have testified to us in these depositions and what we are seeing from these emails as far as the the process that the Biden administration used for the autopen,” Comer emphasized.
As this probe heats up, it’s clear the Biden era was riddled with cover-ups that put America last. Jean-Pierre’s testimony might just be the tipping point to demand real accountability from the swamp.
