Failed Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is back in the news. She’s making her rounds to every outlet.
But now Hillary Clinton’s asked a question on CNN that is blowing everyone’s minds.
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that she expects former President Donald Trump to be the GOP’s choice for president in 2024, but that she thinks President Joe Biden may still beat him.
“One will wreck our democracy. One violates the law on a regular basis. One appeals to the worst in our collective psyche. The other gets things done,” the former Obama admin secretary of state said in a special interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour.
Then she offered a question that will make a lot of people in the United States laugh out loud. The question she posed was, “Why is that a hard choice?”
Clinton went on to say that Biden has done a “fantastic job,” citing the big infrastructure spending bill he helped pass in 2021 and the Inflation Reduction Act he helped pass in 2022 that allowed the government to negotiate prescription prices for Medicare patients as examples. “But if you don’t want to be for him on the merits, the way I am, be for him because the alternative could end our democracy,” she urged. “And I don’t say that lightly.”
Clinton also made some of her sharpest comments about Trump since January 6, 2021. She compared the portion of the GOP base that still supports her 2016 competitor to “a cult,” and suggested that “maybe there needs to be a formal deprogramming of the cult members.”
Clinton went on to say, “And unfortunately, so many of those extremists, those MAGA extremists, take their marching orders from Donald Trump, who has no credibility left by any measure.” That man is totally self-centered.
Days after a historic vote that removed then-Speaker of the House Rep. Kevin McCarthy, Clinton made these remarks, leaving Republican members scurrying to find a replacement. In the final 216-210 tally, eight Republicans led by conservative firebrand from Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz sided with the Democrats.
Clinton served for eight years in the Senate and remarked that, in contrast to the current state of the Republican Party, “there wasn’t this little tail of extremism waving, you know, wagging the dog of the Republican Party as it is today.”
With McCarthy’s departure, she claimed, it was very evident that the GOP is in “an absolute hostage situation with its most extreme members.”
Clinton claimed that McCarthy was “punished” by his fellow Republicans for “doing the right thing” by working with Democrats to pass a short-term funding bill and avert a government shutdown.
“He was not continuing to be captive to the far-right extremists. So they toppled him. It was a very small number as you look at the vote. But now we’re reaping the consequences of their misbehavior,” Clinton said. Responding to a question about whether or not the Democrats should have voted to save McCarthy, she emphasized that the choice was not easy, but that the caucus had no confidence in the California Republican.
Clinton said of Ohio Republican Rep. Jim Jordan, who is seeking the speakership, that he is “one of the principal ringleaders of the circus” in the Republican Party.
“At some point, there needs to be a backlash against the control that this small group of extremists have. And I don’t know who will lead that, but let’s hope whoever becomes the new speaker will.”
Hillary Clinton may now know why people would want to vote for Donald Trump over Joe Biden, but that’s because she’s a part of the political class who don’t want any shakeup whatsoever.
Joe Biden is easy for the Democrat party to manipulate like he’s a puppet. Donald Trump is not so easily swayed. He scares the living daylights out of the suits in Washington, D.C.
That’s why so many Americans want him to get a second term, though. That’s why he’s dominating the polls across the board in every state and in every national poll.
There can be arguments about whether someone might be a better overall pick. That’s all fine and dandy. But for Hillary Clinton to ask why it’s a “hard choice” to pick between Joe Biden and Donald Trump is simply hilarious.
Maybe it’s because half of America feels like they are way worse off today than they were when Donald Trump was President. Just maybe.
