Jaws dropped to the floor after Kamala Harris’s brain freezes up during interview

Harris isn’t known to be a good interviewee. But this was worse than anyone could’ve imagined.

And jaws dropped to the floor after Kamala Harris’s brain freezes up during an interview.

Vice President Kamala Harris found herself the subject of ridicule once again after her latest remarks during an interview with Roland Martin on Black Star Network. Her response to a question about Donald Trump’s fixation on crime in Democrat-led cities led to a meandering explanation that quickly garnered her the moniker “Galileo Harris.”\

The nickname arose after she used a reference to constellations while discussing racial disparities in the cities Trump targets for criticism.

“I talked with somebody once who said, ‘You know, if you just look at, where the stars are in the sky. Don’t look [at] ’em as just random things, if you just look at ’em as points,’” Harris said, continuing with, “Look at the constellation — what does it show you?”

She used the metaphor to link Trump’s focus on crime in cities like Detroit, Milwaukee, and Atlanta to their large Black populations, stating, “So you just outlined it, Roland, what does it show you? That the cities that he picks on in terms of black population or black mayor or both.” She punctuated her response with, “C’mon,” adding to the confusion.

The Trump campaign wasted no time clipping her remarks and sharing them on social media, where reactions flooded in.

Some X (formerly Twitter) users mocked the vice president for being out of touch. “THIS is talking ‘black agenda with Roland?’” one person asked in disbelief. Others were quick to joke about her mental state, with some suggesting she was under the influence of marijuana. One user sarcastically commented, “Me after eating 250mg of THC.”

Many saw Harris’ metaphorical take on constellations as further evidence of her struggles with coherent messaging.

During the interview, Harris and Martin agreed that Trump’s rhetoric has primarily targeted Black voters in cities like Detroit, Milwaukee, and Atlanta, the same cities Trump raised claims of voting irregularities during the 2020 election.

Martin highlighted how Trump was singling out places with significant Black populations, to which Harris responded affirmatively: “Yes.”

The Harris campaign has recently been ramping up its outreach to Black voters, especially in light of what political analysts are calling an enthusiasm gap in the 2024 election cycle.

Even former President Barack Obama acknowledged the challenge, stating, “We have yet to see the same kinds of energy and turnout in all corners of our neighborhoods and communities as we saw when I was running,” during a recent event in Pittsburgh.

This latest episode adds to the ongoing battle between Harris and Trump, with both sides highlighting each other’s perceived weaknesses. Trump has consistently blamed Democrats for the crime spikes in major cities during his reelection campaign, arguing that his comments are not racially motivated but rather a reflection of how these cities are run.

“Frankly, black people come up to me, say, ‘Thank you, thank you, Sir, for saying it.’ They want help, these cities — it’s like living in hell,” Trump said during a 2020 interview.

The exchange on “#RolandMartinUnfiltered” highlights the deepening political divide as Harris seeks to solidify support within the Black community, a critical demographic for her campaign as she faces an uphill battle in energizing voters ahead of the next election.

But her latest word salad about constellations will likely not improve her standing among this demographic.

And as the election inches closer and closer, she can’t afford anymore slip-ups.
