Vance and Trump are teaming up to squash the establishment. They’re ready to drain every ounce of the Washington, D.C. Swamp.
And JD Vance has revealed these stunning changes that are coming to the FBI under the new Trump administration.
Trump Reportedly Interviewing FBI Director Candidates Ahead of Wray’s Term Expiration
Vice President-elect JD Vance inadvertently revealed on Tuesday that President-elect Donald Trump is already considering replacements for FBI Director Christopher Wray, whose term runs through 2027. The disclosure emerged during a contentious exchange on X (formerly Twitter) about President Biden’s judicial nominee confirmations during the lame-duck session.
The revelation came in a post by Vance, who had responded to criticism from Grace Chong, CFO of Steve Bannon’s War Room. Chong accused Vance and Secretary of State-designate Marco Rubio of missing a crucial vote to confirm Embry J. Kidd, a Biden judicial appointee.
“You guys better show up and do your one fricken job!! @JDVance @marcorubio,” Chong wrote, tagging both officials.
Vance fired back, calling Chong a “mouth breathing imbecile” before revealing the real reason for his absence: “When this 11th Circuit vote happened, I was meeting with President Trump to interview multiple positions for our government, including for FBI Director. I tend to think it’s more important to get an FBI director who will dismantle the deep state than it is for Republicans to lose a vote 49-46 rather than 49-45.”
The Ohio senator later deleted the post, but not before it raised questions about Wray’s future at the bureau.
Tensions Between Trump and Wray
Christopher Wray, 57, has led the FBI since August 2017, appointed by Trump during his first term. However, their relationship has soured significantly, with Trump criticizing Wray’s handling of investigations involving the former president, including the high-profile Mar-a-Lago raid in August 2022.
In July, Wray publicly questioned whether Trump was actually hit but a bullet from an alleged assassination attempt at a Butler, Pennsylvania rally.
Trump lashed out on Truth Social, accusing Wray of incompetence: “No wonder the once storied FBI has lost the confidence of America!” He also alleged that Wray failed to properly investigate the incident, claiming, investigators “never even checked” his ear.
Donald Trump has further accused Wray of “lying to Congress” about President Biden’s physical and cognitive health, demanding his resignation. “Anybody can see that Joe Biden is cognitively and physically challenged, and if you can’t see that, you sure as hell can’t be running the FBI,” Trump wrote.
Potential Successors
Rumors about Wray’s potential replacements have circulated for months. Former Pentagon official Kash Patel, a vocal advocate for overhauling federal intelligence agencies, is considered a strong contender. Patel has argued for a complete restructuring of the FBI, writing in his book Government Gangsters that the agency’s leadership must be fired to address its “thoroughly compromised” state.
Trump has praised Patel’s book as a “blueprint” for his second term, further fueling speculation about Patel’s role in the next administration.
Another possible candidate is former Michigan Rep. Mike Rogers, who chaired the House Intelligence Committee before leaving Congress. Rogers, 61, recently lost a close Senate race to Democrat Elissa Slotkin.
The Road Ahead
While no official announcement has been made about Wray’s fate, Vance’s comments have intensified scrutiny on Trump’s plans for the FBI. The revelation signals the president-elect’s determination to reshape the bureau as part of his broader effort to combat what he calls the “deep state.”
As Trump finalizes his cabinet and senior leadership team, the selection of a new FBI director will likely be one of the most consequential decisions of his second term.
