Biden’s woes on the campaign trail continue. More and more parts of the country are starting to turn their backs on him.
And Joe Biden buried his head in the sand after he was double-crossed by this loyal blue state.
Former President Donald Trump, despite his recent guilty conviction in his hush money trial, believes that he can make a realistic play for several blue states in this year’s presidential election.
The Commonwealth of Virginia is one of those blue states where Trump and his campaign think he can flip red.
Virginia has voted for the Democratic presidential candidate in every election since 2008.
But a new poll from Roanoke College shows that Trump and President Joe Biden are tied at 42% in the Old Dominion in a head-to-head matchup.
When third-party candidates are added to the mix, Biden has just a two-point lead.
In 2020, Joe Biden won Virginia by 10%, but if the election were held today, it looks as though he would come nowhere close to repeating that result.
Trump’s campaign also likes their chances in the Old Dominion because of how awful of a president Biden has been so far in his first term.
“Joe Biden is so weak, and Democrats are in such disarray, that not only is President Trump dominating in every traditional battleground state, but longtime blue states such as Minnesota, Virginia, and New Jersey are now in play,” Karoline Leavitt, a Trump campaign spokeswoman said.
“President Trump is on offense with a winning message and growing his movement every single day. Joe Biden’s campaign should be terrified.”
Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin’s (R) election in 2021 is a possible sign that the GOP and Trump could easily make a play in the commonwealth.
While that still may be a pipedream for Donald Trump, Larry Sabato, the director of the University of Virginia Center for Politics, believes that the Biden campaign should be concerned.
“If Virginia is even competitive in the fall, it’s a very bad sign for Biden since Virginia is more Democratic than many of the true swing states,” Sabato said to the Hill.
According to the Cook Political Report, Virginia is considered a “Solid D” in the presidential election.
That pretty much means that Joe Biden has a high likelihood of carrying the state come election day.
But Trump and his team don’t seem to care about reports like that, as they fully intend on heavily competing for Virginia’s 13 electoral votes.
All across swing states in America, the former president has a legitimate shot at flipping most of them red based off numerous polls.
If these polls continue to hold, then Biden may be in for a humiliating defeat this year.
