Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are not on the same page. Vice President Kamala Harris is constantly going rogue.
And now Joe Biden is furious with Kamala Harris for making this truly idiotic mistake.
Vice President Kamala Harris has been giving a series of fiery speeches this week, targeting Florida’s Republican governor, Ron DeSantis, while President Joe Biden is relaxing on the beach.
“I’m here in Florida, and I’ll tell you there is no roundtable, no lecture, no invitation we will accept to debate an undeniable fact,” Harris said during an event on Tuesday in Orlando. “There were no redeeming qualities of slavery.”
Harris’s detractors say she’s unfocused and all over the place; some even say the prospect of her becoming president is reason enough to vote against the aging Biden.
She used to be more reserved, but as of late she’s been filling the gap left by the sitting president with a week of high-profile speaking events and picking fights with leading GOP candidate DeSantis.
Even Democrat party insiders are concerned that she’s making a big mistake by trying to take on high-profile politicians like DeSantis who command much better approval ratings than her and Biden.
“They want to replace history with lies,” she stated during a speech last week in Jacksonville in which she again criticized the governor of Florida. “Middle school students in Florida to be told that enslaved people benefited from slavery,” Harris claimed.
Critics of Harris’s speech point out that her entire argument rests on a single paragraph of a semester-long course, and that she has previously lauded courses that make the same point.
Some high-profile Republicans shared her worries, including black senators and representatives like South Carolina’s Tim Scott and Florida’s Byron Donalds.
DeSantis responded by calling the allegations “misinformed” and inviting her to Florida to meet with a teacher who worked on the state’s black history standards.
Harris’s response was to return to Florida, where she once again attacked DeSantis in front of a cheering church conference in Orlando and pledged not to debate.
“This seems to be the undercard to the Biden-Trump fight — Harris vs. DeSantis,” said Jim Clark, a professor at the University of Central Florida.
“It seems as though the administration has assigned her the job of jabbing at DeSantis, who always fights back.”
But her comments on DeSantis weren’t the only ones making headlines recently.
Harris stepped in to defend her boss amid impeachment rumors, calling the talk “political games” and claiming Biden continues to have high approval ratings despite the allegations.
It’s interesting to see her schedule with Biden out on vacation. Harris met with the prime minister of Mongolia on Wednesday, gave a speech on infrastructure investment and made two campaign stops in Wisconsin on Thursday, and spoke about Jobs Day on Friday.
Clearly, the Biden administration is trying to get Kamala Harris some camera time that she isn’t used to.
However, Harris is not without his detractors.
According to the average of polling conducted by RealClearPolitics, only 40.7% of voters approve of the vice president, while 52.7% of voters disapprove. That’s even worse than Joe Biden’s polling figures.
