Election night was rough for the Harris campaign. Now there’s consequences.
That’s why the Kamala Harris campaign has released a surprise announcement that’s raising eyebrows.
Democrats Reflect on Vice President Harris’ Campaign: An Analysis of Missed Opportunities and Campaign Challenges
Top Democrats involved in Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign have openly acknowledged that their efforts to sway voters were ultimately insufficient in the face of widespread dissatisfaction with the direction of the country. In a post-mortem interview with The Washington Post, campaign officials discussed the challenges they faced, offering a detailed account of how they struggled to overcome significant obstacles during the election.
Jen O’Malley Dillon, the campaign chair, shared that the team had questioned certain decisions, yet the overall conclusion was clear: “There are certain things we’re looking at to understand if we made the right call,” she told the *Post*. However, she added, the “headwinds were just too great for us to overcome, especially in 107 days.” Despite their best efforts, the campaign came “very close to what we anticipated, both in terms of turnout and in terms of support,” she explained.
Internal models going into Election Day had Harris with narrow leads in Wisconsin and Michigan, with a nearly tied race in Pennsylvania. The models also projected that Trump was ahead in crucial battleground states like Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, and North Carolina. “We were laser-focused on the battleground states,” O’Malley Dillon remarked. “We knew it would be a margin-of-error race, but with the organization we had and the movement we saw, we thought it was possible.”
Officials also pointed to the strategic decisions made by the Trump campaign and the Republican Party as contributing factors to their challenges. According to one anonymous source within Harris’ campaign, the Trump team had been particularly effective in reaching younger voters, especially young men.
“The folks on the other side, on Team Red, have been doing a lot of this work for years,” the official noted. “There’s just a lot of ground for us to make up in where young men, in particular, are going to receive their information, especially those who are not explicitly looking for political content.”
This shift in media consumption habits became evident through the Trump campaign’s use of podcasts, which allowed Trump and his running mate, Senator JD Vance, to connect directly with a broad audience. The two men made regular appearances on popular podcasts, many hosted by comedians like Theo Von and Tim Dillon. This strategy culminated with a high-profile appearance on the *Joe Rogan Experience*, the largest podcast globally, just days before the election.
In contrast, Harris attempted to engage with younger audiences through her own podcast appearances, such as her time on *Call Her Daddy*, a show that primarily targets young women. However, as O’Malley Dillon explained, there was no singular solution to the campaign’s challenges.
“We are not here to tell you everything was perfect,” she said. “We lost. But some of the ascribing the loss to singular things, like if we had just done an interview with Joe Rogan, then that would have solved the problem with young men. That is too simplistic and doesn’t solve anything and certainly doesn’t solve the path forward.”
As Democrats assess the results of the campaign, they acknowledge the difficulties in competing with a rapidly changing media landscape and the deep-seated dissatisfaction among voters. Despite their efforts, the factors at play were too complex for any single strategy or media appearance to turn the tide.
Most Democrats Can’t Read The Writing On The Wall
The reality is that most Democrats are not taking this loss to Donald Trump well at all, and they are looking for excuses rather than trying to come to grips with the fact that some of their agenda extremism being a problem long-term.
Until they let go of some of the extremism coming from their LGBT so-called “advocacy” and borderline communist economic policies, they will continue to turn off countless millions of Americans who just simply can’t stomach these extreme ideas that have become common-place and even necessary for Democrat candidates to peddle.
Don’t expect the Democrat establishment to take a long look in the mirror, though. They haven’t showed any indication that they will change anything next time around.
