Pelosi has always had animosity toward the Right. But now she’s taking that hatred a step too far.
As Nancy Pelosi issues a lethal threat that has Republicans on red alert.
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) recently made waves with her aggressive statements, openly declaring her intent against Republican leaders and drawing a sharp comparison between Donald Trump and fascism.
Her remarks came just weeks after a shocking assassination attempt on Trump, in which he was shot in the ear.
In an emotionally charged interview with reporters, Pelosi was reported by The Washington Post to have pounded the table while “dispensing wisdom that sounds like a mix of a crime boss and local party activist.” Her words have only fueled the flames of an already heated political landscape.
The recent attempt on Trump’s life prompted President Joe Biden to address the nation from the Oval Office, where he acknowledged the role of political rhetoric in escalating violence. “We can’t allow this violence to be normalized,” Biden urged. “The political rhetoric in this country has gotten very heated. It’s time to cool it down. And we all have a responsibility to do that.”
Biden called for unity, emphasizing its importance in these divisive times. “Unity is the most elusive of goals right now, nothing is more important for us now than standing together,” he said. “We debate and disagree. We compare and contrast the character of the candidates, the records, the issues, the agenda, the vision for America. … Politics must never be a literal battlefield and, God forbid, a killing field.”
However, just days later, Biden seemed to contradict his own plea for temperance, stating that he would not be changing his rhetoric.
His comments implied that Republican rhetoric was to blame for the shooting of their own nominee, and he notably struggled to offer any positive remarks about Trump, whom he described as someone who “wants to be a dictator on day one.”
This rhetoric has led some to argue that if Trump were indeed the fascist or dictator that his opponents claim, then violence against him could be seen as justifiable.
Pelosi, according to The Washington Post, is singularly focused on defeating Trump, whom she labeled as “unpatriotic” and compared to fascist regimes for what she perceives as his attempts to undermine independent media.
“Nothing that I do has anything to do with him, except his downfall,” Pelosi stated.
Pelosi’s disdain for Trump extends beyond just him, as she refuses to maintain relationships with Republicans who support him.
When freshman Republicans invited her to events centered around their shared Italian heritage, she declined, saying bluntly, “I do not like you. I’m out to get you, I’m out to get you.”
The tension doesn’t stop there. After the assassination attempt on Trump, Biden responded sharply to House Speaker Mike Johnson’s remarks that a Democrat bill was “dead on arrival,” saying of Johnson, “he is — dead on arrival.”
The reluctance of leading Democrats to moderate their rhetoric is notable, especially considering that political violence has predominantly been associated with the Democratic side in recent years. Incidents such as the attempted m*rder of congressional Republicans at a baseball practice, and the plot against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, serve as stark reminders.
Furthermore, every U.S. president who has been assassinated, with the exception of John F. Kennedy, was a Republican, with JFK’s k*ller believed to have communist ties.
Biden and Pelosi have drawn parallels between the attack on Pelosi’s husband and the shooting of Trump. However, the circumstances are markedly different; Pelosi’s husband was assaulted with a hammer by a homeless, illegal immigrant hippie. Biden also equated the events of January 6th to these acts of violence, despite the fact that, despite the large number of protestors who own guns who were present that day, the only person shot was Ashley Babbitt, a protester k*lled by a police officer.
Leaders in the Democrat Party continue to preach about toning down the rhetoric in order to stop political violence.
Yet they never want to be the first ones to do so.
