The Left can’t believe it. Their ideologies are getting squashed by Donald Trump.
And President Trump just crushed this radical Democrat agenda with the stroke of a pen.
The federal Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has issued a directive requiring all government departments and agencies to close their Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) offices. Employees in these offices are to be placed on paid administrative leave, according to Fox News Digital.
Acting OPM Director Charles Ezell sent the directive late Tuesday, outlining a series of steps to be implemented immediately. By 5 p.m. on January 22, departments must:
- Notify employees about the closures and ask staff to report any efforts to continue DEIA programs using vague or alternative language.
- Inform DEIA office employees that they are being placed on paid leave as the agency works to terminate all related initiatives, offices, and programs.
- Remove all external communications, such as websites and social media, related to DEIA offices.
- Retract any documents, policies, and equity plans associated with Executive Order 14035, which was signed by President Biden in 2021 to promote diversity and inclusion in the federal workforce.
- Cancel DEIA-related training sessions and terminate anything connected to DEIA contractors.
Agencies must also submit detailed compliance reports to OPM. By noon on Thursday, January 23, they are required to provide:
- A complete list of DEIA offices and employees as of November 5, 2024.
- An inventory of DEIA-related contracts active as of the same date.
- A plan outlining how they intend to fully comply with the new executive orders.
Further, by 5 p.m. on Friday, January 24, agency heads must deliver:
- Written plans for executing reductions-in-force targeting DEIA office employees.
- Lists of altered job descriptions or contracts that may have concealed ties to DEIA programs.
This sweeping move follows President Trump’s signing of an executive order on Monday aimed at eliminating all diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the federal government.
Shifting Federal Policy on Civil Rights and DEI Programs
The president’s order declares it “the official policy of the U.S. government to only recognize two genders: male and female.” He also issued additional directives targeting DEI initiatives in education, workplace hiring, and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
In an executive order signed Tuesday, Trump reiterated his administration’s commitment to protecting Americans from discrimination based on race, color, religion, s*x, or national origin. Describing these protections as the “bedrock” of civil rights, he emphasized the need to ensure that equality of opportunity is upheld.
“Yet today, roughly 60 years after the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, critical and influential institutions of American society, including the Federal Government, major corporations, financial institutions, the medical industry, large commercial airlines, law enforcement agencies, and institutions of higher education have adopted and actively use dangerous, demeaning, and immoral race- and s*x-based preferences under the guise of so-called ‘diversity, equity, and inclusion’ (DEI) or ‘diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility’ (DEIA) that can violate the civil-rights laws of this Nation,” the order states.
The order argues that such policies undermine merit-based hiring and promotion practices and pose risks to public safety, particularly in critical sectors such as aviation, medicine, and law enforcement.
FAA Hiring Practices Under Scrutiny
In a related memo on Tuesday, Trump ordered the Secretary of Transportation and FAA Administrator to end DEI-related hiring initiatives and return to merit-based hiring. The directive requires the FAA to review the performance of employees in key safety roles and ensure that all personnel meet the highest standards of competency and efficiency.
“Illegal and discriminatory diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) hiring, including on the basis of race, s*x, disability, or any other criteria other than the safety of airline passengers and overall job excellence, competency, and qualification, harms all Americans, who deserve to fly with confidence,” the memo states.
The administration’s focus on rescinding DEI policies reflects a broader push to prioritize individual qualifications and achievement over identity-based considerations. All agencies are expected to fully implement these changes in the coming days, marking a significant shift in federal workforce policies established under the Biden administration.
