Donald Trump has switched things up. It’s caused a major shockwave.
And President Trump has made a stunning policy reversal that’s made his supporters speechless.
Trump Administration Reinstates Immigration Raids on Farms and Service Industry Jobs
In a policy pivot, the Trump administration has directed U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to resume immigration raids targeting workplaces like farms, hotels, and restaurants. The decision, confirmed in a Monday call with ICE field office leaders, marks a reversal from guidance issued just last Thursday, which had temporarily paused such operations.
That brief halt came after the Department of Agriculture raised alarms about the potential for aggressive deportations to disrupt the nation’s food supply, particularly in rural communities.
Tricia McLaughlin, an assistant secretary for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), emphasized the administration’s stance during the call. “There will be no safe spaces for industries who harbor violent criminals or purposely try to undermine ICE’s efforts,” she said, according to The Washington Post.
She framed worksite enforcement as a critical tool for protecting public safety, national security, and economic stability. ICE officials, leading the discussion with 30 field offices nationwide, relayed the order to reinstate raids, signaling a return to aggressive immigration enforcement in these sectors.
The decision follows a week of mixed signals from the administration. President Donald Trump had previously hinted at a softer approach, stressing the need for “common sense” in deportation policies.
Speaking about the agricultural sector, he expressed concern for farmers who rely on long-term, non-citizen workers. “Our farmers are being hurt badly. They have very good workers who have worked for them for 20 years. They’re not citizens, but they’ve turned out to be great, and we’re going to have to do something about that,” Trump said.
“You know what’s going to happen — what is happening, they get rid of some of their people … and they end up hiring the criminals that have come in, the m*rderers from prisons and everything else.” His comments suggested a potential carve-out for certain workers, particularly those with deep ties to their communities.
However, the initial pause on raids created criticism from some of Trump’s supporters, who saw it as a betrayal of his campaign promises. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), a frequent critic of the administration on various issues, took to social media to voice his concerns.
“Under Trump’s new immigration enforcement policy, if you’re an illegal alien, I guess you just have to switch jobs to a restaurant, hotel, farm, or meat packing plant?” he wrote, highlighting the frustration among those who expected a harder line on immigration.

The reinstatement of raids reflects a commitment to one of the key issues that propelled Trump to victory in the 2024 election: mass deportations of illegal immigrants.
For many voters, Trump’s pledge to address illegal immigration with unprecedented force was a cornerstone of his campaign. Supporters argued that unchecked immigration strains public resources, depresses wages, and poses risks to community safety.
The promise of large-scale deportations resonated deeply with those who felt previous administrations had failed to enforce immigration laws effectively.
The focus on mass deportations also tapped into concerns about crime, with Trump and his allies frequently citing cases of violent offenses committed by illegal aliens.
By continuing to carry out raids in workplaces like farms, hotels, and restaurants—industries known to employ significant numbers of illegal immigrants—the administration aims to deliver on its campaign rhetoric.
President Trumps stance is clear. He’s going to continue to make good on his promise to the American people by carrying out mass deportations in order to cut down on the illegal immigration crisis that was caused by the Biden/Harris administration.
