Democrats are filled with rage these days. They don’t know how to handle the many defeats they’re taking from the Trump admin.
And radical Leftists are fuming after what Donald Trump and Elon Musk just did.
President Donald Trump ignited a wave of reactions across social media this week when he climbed into the driver’s seat—literally and figuratively—to back Elon Musk and Tesla. The move came as Tesla’s stock bounced back Tuesday after a rocky start to the week, driven by protests flaring up at showrooms nationwide.
The stock rebound offered a glimmer of relief for Tesla, but Democrats wasted no time slamming Trump’s latest spectacle. They accused him of transforming the White House into a promotional stage for Musk’s electric car empire. “I’m sure all the people losing their retirement, jobs, and health care because of Trump are glad to see the White House turned into a car dealership for the richest man on the planet,” DNC Chair Ken Martin fired off in an X post dripping with sarcasm.
The controversy erupted when Fox News reporter Peter Doocy pressed Trump on what he’d say to Americans grappling with financial insecurity and shrinking retirement funds—especially as the president flaunted his new Tesla purchase. Trump leaned on his economic playbook, pointing to foreign tariffs as the fix.
“Well, I think they’re going to do great. I think our country had to do this. We had to go and do this. They’ve taken away—other countries have taken away our business. They have taken away our jobs,” Trump told Doocy. “This economy, in my opinion, is going to blow it away.”
He doubled down, adding, “I have to do this. I have to get the workers back. I have to get the factories open. We have 90,000 factories and plants closed… We’re taking it back. We’re taking our jobs back.”
Democrats weren’t buying it. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) pounced on the photo op, writing, “Grocery prices are soaring. Housing costs are skyrocketing. Retirement savings are plummeting. But Donald Trump thought today would be a good day to play car salesman.” The Democratic National Committee piled on, claiming, “Elon Musk just used taxpayer money to host a car sale at the White House after cutting funding for schools and preparing to fire 80,000 VA workers.”
The House Committee on Financial Services Democrats called it “a brazen conflict of interest and corruption in broad daylight,” while the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee branded Trump and Musk’s red-Tesla photo op a snapshot of “the most corrupt administration in American history.” House Whip Katherine Clark (D-Mass.) chimed in, “While Republicans were voting to take health care away from families and veterans, Donald Trump hosted a Tesla car show at the White House for his biggest donor. Peak corruption.”
Social media lit up when an image surfaced of Trump clutching handwritten notes about Tesla cars—a detail that didn’t escape Democratic strategist Chris D. Jackson. “After mocking President Biden for using note cards, Trump got caught red-handed today—holding his own notes on what to say about buying a Tesla, a car he clearly knows nothing about. So, is the media gonna make a big deal out of this? Or nah?” Jackson posted on X. Trump, however, brushed it off with a jab at Biden. “Do you want my notes? They gave me notes. I’m not Biden. I don’t need notes,” he quipped to reporters before sliding into his new Tesla Model S. “You think Biden could get into that car? I don’t think so,” he added with a smirk.
While Democrats fumed, Elon Musk reveled in the moment. He posted a pointed comparison: a 2021 photo of Biden snubbing Tesla at an electric vehicle summit alongside Tuesday’s shot of Teslas gleaming in front of the White House. Back then, despite Tesla leading the U.S. in EV production, it was left off the guest list. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki had deflected at the time, saying the invitees were “the three largest employers of the United Auto Workers, so I’ll let you draw your own conclusions.”
Musk found an ally in CNN contributor Scott Jennings, who defended him on “CNN NewsNight.” “There’s a video of Joe Biden driving a Jeep around the South Lawn… It’s pretty common for the president to boost American industries… He obviously has a close relationship with Elon, who, by the way, is, I think, unfairly under attack and this company is unfairly under attack. You have these insane people all over the country chasing people down in their Teslas in New York City,” Jennings said.
Conservatives rallied online, too. When Warren criticized Trump, Trending Politics co-owner Collin Rugg shot back, “I don’t remember you being a Karen when Biden was a car salesman for Jeep.” EV journalist Sawyer Merritt touted Tesla’s credentials, noting, “Teslas are the #1 most American-made cars. Unlike GM, Ford, and Stellantis, every Tesla sold in America is built in America by American workers.”
Trump had teed up the stunt Monday night, announcing, “I’m going to buy a brand new Tesla tomorrow morning as a show of confidence and support for Elon Musk, a truly great American.”
On Truth Social, he wrote, “To Republicans, Conservatives, and all great Americans, Elon Musk is ‘putting it on the line’ in order to help our Nation, and he is doing a FANTASTIC JOB! But the Radical Left Lunatics, as they often do, are trying to illegally and collusively boycott Tesla, one of the World’s great automakers, and Elon’s ‘baby,’ in order to attack and do harm to Elon, and everything he stands for.”
The Tesla spotlight follows a wave of protests at showrooms nationwide, some escalating to vandalism, tied to Musk’s role in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The agency’s push for federal job cuts and exposure of wasteful spending has fueled the unrest.
“It’s really terrible that there’s so much violence being perpetrated against people at Tesla, Tesla supporters, Tesla owners, Tesla stores. These are innocent people who have done nothing wrong,” Musk said to reporters Tuesday.
Republican allies like Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) jumped to his defense, writing, “Elon Musk is being attacked, and his companies are being targeted because he is fighting to put Americans first.” Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and others have demanded probes into the vandalism, with Trump dubbing the attacks “domestic terrorism.”
Love it or hate it, Trump’s Tesla turn has everyone talking—and the social media storm shows no signs of slowing down.
