Republicans are sweating bullets after a top Democrat announces prison time for Donald Trump.
Former President Donald Trump is in the midst of a hush money trial in New York.
During the trial, he’s been hit with a gag order that limits what he can say about the case. Specifically, Trump can’t make any public statements about the trial’s witnesses, the staff of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, staff family members, or court staff.
Recently, Trump was found by New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan, the judge who is ruling over the case, to have violated the gag order again. This is now the tenth time Trump has violated it.
In response to the gag order’s violation, Merchan has threatened to throw Trump in jail.
After Judge Merchan made his threat, New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) was questioned about possible jail time at Rikers Island for the former president.
“At President Trump’s trial, they were talking about how he might end up in jail if he continues to violate these court orders. Is Rikers prepared for that?” a reporter asked the mayor.
“Our amazing commissioner, she is prepared for whatever comes on Rikers Island, and I’m pretty sure she would be prepared to manage and deal with the situation,” Adams said. The commissioner he was referring to New York City Department of Corrections Commissioner Lynelle Maginley-Liddie.
“As you see what’s happening with Harvey Weinstein, we have to adjust. You know in this business, particularly around law enforcement, we have to adjust whatever comes our way. But, you know, we don’t want to deal with the hypothetical, but they’re professionales, they’ll be ready,” Adams added.

Judge Merchan hit Trump with a $1,000 fine for violating the gag order on Monday.
“The last thing I want to consider is jail. You are [the] former president and possibly the next president,” Merchan said to Trump.
“Your continued violations of this Court’s lawful Order threaten to interfere with the administration of justice in constant attack, which constitute a direct attack on the rule of law.”
When Trump was found last week to have violated the gag order nine times, Merchan gave him a $1,000 fine each of those times.
At this point in time, nothing would make Democrats happier than to see Trump thrown behind bars as a result of this case.
These radical Leftist prosecutors that have targeted the former president are hoping for the worst possible outcome for him.
But even though they’re bottling up Donald Trump’s time with these legal cases during a critical election year, he is still leading President Joe Biden in numerous polls.
According to the latest Morning Consult poll, Trump leads Biden by a point in a head-to-head matchup in the general election.
