Former President Trump’s 2024 campaign is in full swing. But all of that could be derailed.
Because this startling report could spell doom for Donald Trump.
Former President Donald Trump has been eyeing the White House since the 2020 election.
He has spent the past three years building his image back up and he is demanding everyone fall behind him in support.
Unfortunately for the former president, other movers and shakers in the conservative movement have eyeing the Oval Office too.
Nikki Haley has tossed her hat in the ring and Senator Tim Scott is deciding whether he wants a piece of the action.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is another big name on the political scene who has yet to indicate if he intends to run.
But another Republican just came out of left field with a presidential announcement.
Larry Elder, a conservative radio talk show presenter, announced Thursday that he is entering the Republican presidential primary contest in 2024, joining a growing field of candidates competing for the party’s nomination.
“I am announcing I am running for the presidency of the United States,” Elder told Fox News host Tucker Carlson.
“I feel I have a moral, a religious and a patriotic duty to give back to a country that’s been so good to my family and to me — and that is why I’m doing it,” he said.
The 70-year-old political commentator told Carlson that his campaign will center on border security, crime, and the “maligning of the police.”
Elder also stated that he aims to attract attention to the “disgraceful lie” that the United States is systemically racist, as well as the “lack of fathers in the home.”
“America is in decline, but this decline is not inevitable. We can enter a new American Golden Age, but we must choose a leader who can bring us there. That’s why I’m running for President,” Elder wrote in a statement posted on Twitter after his announcement.
“We have a country to save!” appears to be his campaign slogan.
Elder was Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s main opponent during the state’s failed recall movement in 2021 over the governor’s pandemic response.
Elder is scheduled to speak this weekend at the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition, where he will be joined by other GOP presidential candidates for 2024, including former President Donald Trump, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, who launched an exploratory committee last week.
Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy have both started presidential runs in 2024.
Whether Elder will be able to distinguish himself from the crowded field is yet to be seen.
But, so far, the leaders are Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis if you follow the polls.
