Walz and Kamala Harris suffered an embarrassing loss in the 2024 election. The former VP candidate is still trying to process that.

And Tim Walz speaks out after his election defeat and what he said is truly shocking.

In the aftermath of the 2024 presidential election, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz spoke candidly about his and Vice President Kamala Harris’s loss to former President Donald Trump and Senator J.D. Vance. During an interview with Tom Hauser of KSTP-TV, an ABC affiliate in St. Paul, Minnesota, Walz expressed his shock over the outcome.

“It felt like at the rallies, at the things I was going to, the shops I was going in, that the momentum was going our way, and it obviously wasn’t,” Walz said. “So, yeah, I was a little surprised. I really, I thought we had a positive message and I thought the country was ready for that.”

Walz reflected on the energy and optimism of the campaign, recalling the moment Harris invited him to join the ticket.

The decision, described by many as unexpected, brought a mix of nerves and excitement for Walz, particularly during his first public appearance alongside Harris in August. That rally, held at Temple University in Philadelphia, marked a pivotal moment for the campaign.

“I’m standing at the curtain with the vice president of the United States with 15 to 20 thousand people and the national press out there, and she turns to me and says, ‘Well, let’s not screw this up.’ And we went out there,” Walz recounted.

After Harris delivered her speech that day, she introduced Walz to the cheering crowd with an enthusiastic declaration of his aspirations.

“The next vice president of the United States, Gov. Tim Walz!” Harris announced, drawing applause from the packed arena.

Reflecting on his time as Harris’s running mate, Walz acknowledged both the honor and the challenges of the role.

In a promotional clip for the interview, set to air on December 8, Hauser asked whether being chosen as Harris’s running mate helped or hindered the campaign.

Walz responded by nothing that only history could determine the impact. He also pointed out that the decision to join the ticket was not his to make.

“History will write that,” Walz said. “It wasn’t my decision to make. It was the vice president’s decision. As I said in this campaign, when you asked the question, were there things you could have done differently? Since we lost, the answer is obviously yes. On this one, I did the best I could.”

Despite the outcome, Walz described the campaign as a great opportunity that he got to partake in.

“It was a privilege to do that,” he said. “It was a privilege to be asked to serve with Vice President Harris. Certainly got to see America!”

But while Tim Walz may have felt surprised that he and Kamala Harris lost the election, there was real reason to believe, partly based off polling, that Donald Trump was going to perform very strongly on election night.

Americans were also simply sick of the radical Leftism that was being promoted by the Harris/Walz ticket. And that certainly showed in the election results that led to Trump being the next President of the United States.
