The American people have been on the edge of their seats to see who the former president’s running mate will be. They’re finally getting answers to that question.
And Trump makes a vice president announcement that everyone has been waiting for.
Donald Trump has been mulling over the decision for who his running mate will be for almost a year.
He’s hinted at various people, including the idea of picking a woman to appear on the ticket with him.
But in an interview with Breitbart News, Trump revealed more insight on his selection process.
“If you study the history of presidential runs, a vice president has never made a difference – which is surprising,” Trump explained.
“It’s a one-night story, and then they’re back to a regular evening. They’re voting for the president. They’re not voting for the vice president.”
“There has, not that I can think of, never been a vice president that’s made much of a difference in terms of nomination and in terms of even winning the election.”
During the interview, Trump never mentioned anyone specifically who would be his future VP, nor did he say when he would make that announcement.
But he did point to the fact that Republicans have a lot of good options for him to choose from.
“So, look, we have some very good people – the same people you know,” Trump added.
“They’re good people. We have some people that would like me to run with certain others. Maybe I can’t do that because you have to go with what your gut tells you.”
“Winning is very important. Look, if we don’t win this, I think this country is finished. I actually do.”
The establishment class is working hard to try and get Nikki Haley to be Trump’s VP, should she not win the Republican nomination.
They argue that she would help him bring in more voters who consider themselves moderate, as well as women.
But based off Trump’s comments to Breitbart, whomever he chooses as his running mate wouldn’t move the needle all that much like people claim Haley would.
Plus, many conservatives like Tucker Carlson and Donald Trump Jr., are greatly opposed to the idea of Haley teaming up with the former president.
That’s not to mention Trump’s latest dislike for her, including referring to her as “Birdbrain” during the Republican primary election cycle.
So far it looks like Donald Trump is tight-lipped on any sort of hints of who his pick for vice president will be.
