Corruption isn’t just in Washington, D.C. It’s all over the country thanks to George Soros bankrolling Leftist politicians.

But a U.S. House Representative just sent this vicious letter to a Soros-funded Texas DA who let the unthinkable happen.

Texas DA Faces Congressional Scrutiny After Suspect Released on Bail Opens Fire on Police

A Texas district attorney is now under intense congressional scrutiny after a man with an extensive criminal record, who had been recently released on bail, went on a shooting spree targeting San Antonio law enforcement officers. The suspect’s actions during the standoff have raised alarms about the effectiveness of bail policies and so-called “criminal justice reforms” in Bexar County.

Brandon Poulos, a 46-year-old man with a long history of criminal behavior, was arrested on January 18 after allegedly assaulting an 81-year-old woman, punching an 83-year-old man in the face, and crashing his vehicle while intoxicated. Despite the severity of these charges, Poulos was released from jail the following day on a $35,000 bond. Just days after his release, on January 22, Poulos barricaded himself inside an apartment complex at the Sonterra Heights, opening fire on seven San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) officers during an hours-long standoff. The gunfire left one officer injured and six others wounded.

The situation escalated after Poulos allegedly called 911 in an apparent attempt to ambush responding officers. Eventually, the SAPD’s SWAT team responded, ending the standoff by fatally shooting Poulos. However, the incident has raised serious questions about the decision to grant him bail and whether recent bail reforms are putting public safety at risk.

U.S. Rep. Chip Roy, a Republican from Texas, is now demanding answers from Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales. Roy expressed his concerns about the release of a violent offender who had been arrested for assaulting elderly victims and driving under the influence. In a letter to Gonzales, Roy questioned why someone with such a violent history was allowed to be released on bond, given the dangers posed by his actions.

“I write today with serious concerns regarding the recent incident in which an individual – with a lengthy criminal history who was released on bail – fired upon law enforcement, injuring seven San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) officers,” Roy wrote in the letter, which was first reported on by the Daily Caller media outlet.

Roy continued, stating that the incident exemplified the consequences of “lax criminal justice policies, including bail reform,” which he argued had put both the safety of Bexar County residents and law enforcement officers at risk. He demanded that Gonzales provide clarity on the policies that led to Poulos’ release and what steps his office was taking to prevent such incidents in the future.

Concerning Details About Poulos’ Bail Leading To Seven Injured Officers

On the day of the shooting, SAPD officers had responded to a call regarding a suicide-in-progress at the Sonterra Heights complex. Upon arrival, Poulos was holed up inside an apartment, where he engaged in a violent exchange of gunfire with officers. In total, seven officers were injured, with one sustaining a gunshot wound to the leg. After more than six hours, SWAT officers stormed the apartment, fatally shooting Poulos.

The details surrounding Poulos’ release have only intensified concerns. According to local reports, Poulos had been granted a $35,000 bond for his alleged attacks on the elderly and his intoxicated driving. His release on bond came just three days before the shooting incident. Moreover, Poulos had reportedly violated a “no contact” order placed against him immediately after the elderly assault case. The rapid sequence of events has raised questions about how such an individual, with a clear history of violence, was allowed to walk free.

Joe Gonzales, the District Attorney for Bexar County, has been in office since January 2019 and was re-elected in 2022. Gonzales, a Democrat, has received significant financial backing from liberal donor George Soros, known for funding progressive prosecutors who advocate for criminal justice reform and softer sentencing for offenders. Gonzales is among several district attorneys who have been supported by Soros, who has openly admitted to seeking prosecutors with more lenient views on crime.

According to data compiled by the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund (LELDF), Gonzales has received over $2 million in donations from Soros-linked groups such as the Fair and Just Prosecution, Texas Organizing Project, and the Texas Justice & Public Safety PAC. These donations have raised concerns among critics who argue that such funding may be influencing prosecutorial decisions in ways that endanger public safety.

In light of the shooting incident, Rep. Chip Roy has demanded that Gonzales address several key questions about his office’s handling of violent offenders. Specifically, Roy wants to know what policies are in place to prevent the release of individuals with violent criminal histories and whether current bail practices are being used to ensure that dangerous individuals remain behind bars. Furthermore, Roy is asking why Gonzales’ office did not request stricter confinement for Poulos and others with similar criminal backgrounds.

Advocates for reform argue that changes to bail practices are necessary to address systemic inequalities, but critics warn that leniency can embolden violent offenders, jeopardizing the safety of the community. Studies have proven that Left-wing bail reforms end up leading to subsequent violent crimes being committed more so than in Republican-led districts.
