The radical Leftist senator has lost his mind. He’s crumbling under pressure.
And Bernie Sanders erupted with rage during a heated TV interview that you have to see.
Bernie Sanders Nearly Storms Out of Interview Over AOC Senate Question
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) came close to ditching an interview on ABC’s “This Week” when the conversation veered toward Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and the possibility of her stepping up to the Senate.
The fiery moment unfolded as co-anchor Jonathan Karl dug into the duo’s political dynamic, catching Sanders off guard with a pointed question.
“Would you like to see her join you in the Senate?” Karl asked, mid-discussion.
Sanders shot back, “I — right now we have, as I said, just a whole lot of people in the Congress. OK, Jonathan, thanks.” He promptly rose from his chair, ready to call it quits.
“Wait! I got one more — I got one more. This is an important one,” Karl pleaded, trying to reel the senator back in.
Off-camera by then, Sanders didn’t mince words about his distaste for the topic. “No, you want to do nonsense? Do nonsense,” he snapped, signaling his frustration with speculation about Ocasio-Cortez climbing the ranks to the Senate.
Karl quickly clarified that he wasn’t fishing for fluff, pointing out that Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez had just teamed up for a rally in Denver. Still, Sanders wasn’t having it.
“I don’t want to talk about inside-the-Beltway stuff. I got 32,000 people —” he began, only to be interrupted by Karl, who insisted the question tied back to their joint appearance.
Grudgingly, Sanders returned to his seat after Karl promised to pivot to his future plans. The tense back-and-forth lit up an already shaky moment for Democrats, who are wrestling with dismal approval numbers and growing doubts about Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY).
The exchange followed reports from CNN that Ocasio-Cortez is facing pressure to challenge Schumer in a primary, sparked by his refusal to stonewall a Republican-led stopgap bill. So far, she’s kept mum on any plans to take him on.
Just minutes before the flare-up, Sanders had showered Ocasio-Cortez with praise, calling her “extraordinary” and gushing, “I am so impressed by her work in Congress and her — just, she inspires young people all over the country.” The compliments stood in sharp contrast to his irritation when her Senate prospects came up.
Sanders didn’t hold back on his own party either, slamming Senate Democrats for dropping the ball:
They “did virtually nothing for working people” when they held the majority, he said, adding, “I have to say that. I’m a member of the Democratic caucus as an independent, so I’m not going to lie to you and tell you otherwise.”
He also took a swipe at President Donald Trump but surprised some by tossing him a bone when asked if the former president had any wins. “Yeah. I mean, I think cracking down on fentanyl, making sure our borders are stronger,” Sanders offered, before doubling down on his push for “comprehensive immigration reform” and stressing that “nobody thinks illegal immigration is appropriate.”
