Anytime the GOP helps Donald Trump, Democrats simply lose it. They’re tired of defeat after defeat.
And what Congressional Republicans just did for Trump has Leftists white hot with anger.
Renaming the Gulf: A Move for American Pride
In a striking display of national pride, the House Rules Committee has propelled a bill forward to permanently christen the Gulf of America, a name that resonates with the spirit of President Donald Trump’s America First vision. This decision marks a pivotal moment in redefining a key geographical landmark previously known as the Gulf of Mexico.
The initiative began when President Trump, through an executive order, transformed the name to align with his agenda of prioritizing American identity.
However, the transient nature of executive actions left the door open for future reversals, prompting Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., to champion legislation that would cement the name in federal law.

On Monday evening, the House Rules Committee, serving as the gatekeeper for legislative proposals, advanced the bill in a decisive party-line vote, setting the stage for a full House vote expected on Thursday morning.
The move has sparked fervent debate, with Republicans hailing it as a “historic” step toward celebrating American strength, while Democrats have dismissed it as a frivolous gesture.
Rep. Harriet Hageman, R-Wyo., passionately defended the bill, emphasizing its symbolic weight. “Throughout our country’s history, presidents have changed the names of America’s lands and waters. The change we are discussing today signals to the world that America is standing tall, and that we are proud of our country,” she declared.
Hageman highlighted the Gulf’s vital role in energy production, noting, “It is nearly impossible to overstate the Gulf of America’s critical role in achieving not only American energy independence, but dominance.”
She tied the effort to the Republican electoral sweep in 2024, asserting, “The American people support these policies, and we must deliver on the promises that we have made.”
Democrats, however, mounted a fierce opposition, attempting to stall the bill with amendments, including one aimed at restricting oil and gas drilling in the Gulf. These efforts failed to gain traction, and the bill emerged unscathed.
Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon, D-Pa., a member of the House Rules Committee, sharply criticized the legislation during the debate, calling it “a stupid, unserious waste of time and taxpayer dollars.” She added, “This bill to rename the Gulf of Mexico is an embarrassment to the nation that it was ever introduced, let alone that it’s being brought to the floor for a vote.”
The White House, undeterred by the criticism, framed the Democratic resistance as a symptom of deeper bias.
Spokeswoman Anna Kelly told Fox News Digital, “Democrats are so overtaken with Trump Derangement Syndrome and obsessed with obstructing the President’s agenda that they will always put America Last. As President Trump said, the Gulf of America has long been an integral asset to our nation. All future generations should be able to recognize this beautiful body of water as a sign of American greatness.”
As the House prepares for Thursday’s vote, the bill to enshrine the Gulf of America stands as a lightning rod for contrasting visions of national identity.
For supporters, it’s a powerful emblem of American resilience and ambition. For opponents, it’s a distraction from pressing priorities. Whatever the outcome, the debate has already etched its mark on the ongoing saga of America’s cultural and political landscape.
