Democrats aren’t going to be happy about this. They despise the president and his supporters.
And a leftist senator came rushing to the defense of Trump voters.
In a refreshing break from the usual Democratic script, Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania is calling out his own party’s toxic direction.
On a recent episode of the “Impaulsive” podcast, the senator laid out why the Democrats must overhaul their approach if they want to connect with everyday Americans.
Fetterman painted a stark picture of today’s political landscape as a destructive contest where both sides seem locked in a downward spiral.
His message cuts through the noise: governance should focus on results for the people, not endless partisan warfare.
“Some Democrats now are actually running on the ‘f— Trump’ – I mean literally, that’s in some of their commercials, you know, honestly,” Fetterman stated.
This kind of gutter-level campaigning reveals how detached the modern left has become from the concerns of working families.
Instead of offering real solutions on jobs, borders, or inflation, too many in the party lean on crude slogans that alienate huge swaths of the country. Fetterman sees the damage this does and isn’t afraid to say it out loud.
He took particular aim at the dangerous habit of labeling political adversaries as “fascists.”
Such rhetoric doesn’t just poison debate—it attacks the character of millions of ordinary citizens who simply want secure borders, strong families, and economic opportunity.
“And this idea — and if you call someone on their side as, like, ‘they’re fascists,’ then that means that people that I know, and I love that voted for him, you know, that must be — they are fascists. And they are not,” Fetterman stated.
“These are good people. They love our country no less than they do. It’s just having different views and, you know, trying to find a way forward in a deeply divided country.”
Fetterman made clear where he stands on this divisive tactic: “I refuse to do that.”
“People forgot that we’re all Americans, and we actually need each other.”
This recognition of shared American identity stands in sharp contrast to the elite-driven division pushed by coastal progressives.
For too long, the left has treated Trump supporters as enemies rather than fellow citizens who care deeply about the nation’s future.
Fetterman’s willingness to push back offers a glimpse of what honest politics could look like.
