California is one of the most liberal states in the country. But change may be coming.
And this new court ruling has delivered a striking blow to Gavin Newsom.
Democrat Governor of California, Gavin Newsom is one of the biggest cheerleaders for the LGBT movement.
Newsom and his administration have lately been trying to get rid of policies where schools notify parents when their child has decided they want to change their gender.
According to a Rasmussen poll, 84% of voters in California support these policies.
However, Newsom believes its a direct violation to a person’s rights if they are outed as being transgender.
Just last month, Governor Newsom and California’s Attorney General, Rob Bonta (D) sued the Chino Valley Unified School District for implementing a parental notification policy.
“They [transgender students] are in real fear that the district’s policy will force them to make a choice: either ‘walk back’ their constitutionally and statutorily protected rights to gender identity and gender expression, or face the risk of emotional, physical and psychological harm from non-affirming or unaccepting parents or guardians,” the lawsuit read.
Newsom’s pressure on school districts to cease notifying parents, looks to be all for nothing.
That’s because Roger Benitez, a U.S. District Court Judge, has ruled that California can no longer block schools from notifying parents about their children expressing the desire to change genders.
“A parent’s right to make decisions concerning the care, custody, control and medical care of their children is one of the oldest of the fundamental liberty interests that Americans enjoy,” Judge Benitez said.
“A student who announces the desire to be publicly known in school by a new name, gender, or pronoun and is referred to by teachers and students and others by said new name, gender, or pronoun, can hardly be said to have a reasonable expectation of privacy or expect non-disclosure.”
Benitez also went on to say that school officials must tell parents if their son or daughter questions their gender or considers themselves transgender.
Judge Benitez also said notifying the parents about this matter is the same as telling them their child has been injured, is having suicidal thoughts, or has been s*xually assaulted.
Religious freedom was also a reason why the ruling occurred.
Several teachers said that Gavin Newsom’s policy of silencing communication between parents and their children about gender expression, was against their faith.
It’s unlikely that the Governor who is in favor of abortion-on-demand and the radical ideas of the LGBT movement, cares about whether or not a policy of his violates his constituents’ faith.
But now, Newsom is going to have to come up with a new scheme that will help him push the transgender ideology on Californians.
Thankfully some common sense still exists in this country and it’s hopefully making it’s way to the Golden State.
