Harris has always had a shady past. But this new information certainly takes the cake.
And Republicans in Congress unveiled Kamala Harris’s shocking ties to terrorism.
In a recent development, Congressional Republicans are questioning the role of Vice President Kamala Harris’ national security adviser, Philip Gordon, accusing him of “blatantly promoting the Iranian regime’s perspective and interests.” They claim that Gordon has been involved in “connections” to an Iranian influence operation, which has already implicated a now-suspended State Department official, Robert Malley, and three of his aides.
Leading the charge, Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) and Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) addressed a letter to Vice President Harris, seeking clarity on Gordon’s role and his potential involvement in promoting Iranian interests.
They highlighted Gordon’s co-authorship of op-eds with Malley and one of his aides, Ariane Tabatabai, who they allege has a history of working closely with Iranian officials.
Stefanik emphasized the seriousness of the situation, stating, “Since last year, I have demanded accountability from the Department of Defense for allowing Iranian regime acolytes to infiltrate high-level government staff.”
She criticized the Biden-Harris administration’s approach to Iran, suggesting that it undermines U.S. relations with Israel. “The Biden-Harris Administration policy of appeasing Iran and abandoning Israel will only worsen if Kamala Harris and her Iranian apologist staff are elevated. I am proud to join Senator Cotton to demand accountability,” she added.
Tabatabai, a key figure in the controversy, was instrumental in founding the Iran Experts Initiative.
This initiative allegedly coordinated with senior Iranian Foreign Ministry officials to shape negotiations on the Iran nuclear deal as early as 2014.
Furthermore, she is accused of participating in a “covert campaign” to discredit a prominent opposition group challenging Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Despite these allegations, Tabatabai currently serves as the chief of staff to the assistant secretary of defense for special operations and low-intensity conflict in the Biden administration.
In their letter, Stefanik and Cotton highlighted past writings by Gordon and Tabatabai, which they argue were biased in favor of Tehran.
They cited a March 2020 article in which the pair warned that continued sanctions on Iran could result in “catastrophe” in the Middle East, potentially provoking Iranian retaliation against neighboring countries and American interests. They also noted Gordon’s association with the National Iranian American Council (NIAC), an organization accused of having connections to Tehran, referencing his participation in the group’s leadership conferences in 2014 and 2016.
The controversy surrounding Malley, who had his security clearance revoked in April 2023 and was placed on unpaid leave, adds another layer to the situation.
Despite these actions against Malley, Stefanik, and Cotton pointed out that Tabatabai continues to work in a sensitive role within the Department of Defense. Additionally, they raised concerns about Amos Hochstein, a special presidential coordinator for global infrastructure and energy security, suggesting he might have “passed intelligence about Israeli airstrikes to Hezbollah potentially as recently as this weekend.”
The FBI and the State Department’s Office of Inspector General are currently investigating Malley for allegedly sharing classified information with Tehran.
Malley, known for his role as a top negotiator for the 2015 Iran nuclear deal under the Obama administration, had been working towards renewing negotiations with Iranian officials prior to his suspension.
Philip Gordon assumed his current position following the departure of Harris’ former national security adviser, Nancy McEldowney, in March 2022.
Both Gordon and Malley had previously criticized the Trump administration’s decision to withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal in a Foreign Affairs op-ed.
In their letter, Stefanik and Cotton requested detailed information by August 9 regarding Gordon’s security clearance status and whether he was investigated after connections between Tabatabai and Tehran were revealed. The investigation and its implications continue to unfold as the deadline approaches.
