The Trump admin is re-strengthening the nation’s armed forces. It’s been long overdue since the Biden administration weakened them.
And Trump just fired these radical Leftists who were infiltrating the United States military.
Donald Trump announced on Monday that he has ordered the dismissal of the Boards of Visitors for U.S. military service academies, a move he says is aimed at reversing what he describes as a leftist infiltration of these institutions.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump outlined his concerns regarding the current state of military academies, stating, “Our Service Academies have been infiltrated by Woke Leftist Ideologues over the last four years. I have ordered the immediate dismissal of the Board of Visitors for the Army, Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard.”
Trump emphasized his vision for the military, adding, “We will have the strongest Military in History, and that begins by appointing new individuals to these Boards. We must make the Military Academies GREAT AGAIN!”
New Direction Under Defense Secretary Hegseth
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth recently met with leaders from West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy, and the U.S. Air Force Academy. His message was clear: the focus must return to leadership, excellence, war fighting, and readiness.
“These are MILITARY ACADEMIES, not civilian universities,” Hegseth stated in a post on X, formerly Twitter. He praised the progress already being made at the academies and stressed the importance of eliminating social justice and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives in favor of history, engineering, and war studies.
Hegseth also emphasized the importance of restoring a “warrior ethos” across the Department of Defense, while adding, “it starts with our future leaders.”
The Role of the Boards of Visitors
Ellen Mitchell, who is a senior defense reporter for The Hill, provided context on the function of the academy boards. According to her, six of the fifteen board members are presidential appointments, while three are appointed by the vice president.
“The academy boards are tasked with inquiring into the state of morale and discipline, the curriculum, instruction, physical equipment, fiscal affairs, academic methods, and other matters relating to the schools,” Mitchell said.
She further noted that the boards of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy are composed of six members appointed by the president, three by the vice president, four by the Speaker of the House, one designated by the Senate Armed Services Committee, and one by the House Armed Services Committee.
Trump’s Military Policy Changes
Trump’s decision to overhaul the Boards of Visitors follows his recent executive orders targeting DEI initiatives within the Department of Defense.
Last month, he signed orders abolishing DEI programs and directing Hegseth to revise “trans-identifying medical standards” to ensure what he described as “military readiness.”
This latest move is part of an effort by Trump and his administration to reshape military leadership and policies, reflecting his commitment to a more traditional and combat-focused armed forces.
