Minnesota Democrat’s Outrageous Gesture Amid Fraud Crisis
In a blatant display of political opportunism, Democratic Minnesota Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan donned a hijab and lavished praise on the state’s Somali community during a market visit captured in a YouTube video posted Thursday—ignoring the massive welfare fraud scandal draining billions from American taxpayers.
Flanagan, appearing at a Somali market while wearing the traditional Muslim head covering despite not being Muslim, seized the microphone to deliver her message of solidarity.
“Salam Alaikum. My name’s Peggy Flanagan. I am the Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota, and I’m really honored and humbled to be here with all of you today,” Flanagan said. “I am incredibly clear that the Somali community is part of the fabric of the state of Minnesota. I think about my friendship with Nimco. We’ve been friends for almost 25 years and when I think of being part of Minnesota and growing up here, the Somali community has always been a part of my Minnesota.”
Ignoring Taxpayer Rip-Off for Votes
As federal investigations reveal at least $9 billion looted from Minnesota programs—with ties to terrorist groups like Al-Shabaab—and ICE ramps up enforcement against illegal Somali immigrants, Flanagan instead urged support for the community and dismissed legitimate concerns.
“So I want to just encourage the community to know that we’re with you, we’ve got your back,” Flanagan continued. “I am here shopping today and just encourage other folks to show up, support our Somali businesses, support our immigrant neighbors and I know that things are scary right now, and just know that there are more people who are looking out for you, there are more people who are here to support you than you know.”
This comes after President Trump rightfully revoked Temporary Protected Status for Somalis in response to the fraud explosion under Democratic oversight, including Gov. Tim Walz’s administration, which has been accused of retaliating against whistleblowers.
Prioritizing Special Interests Over Minnesotans
Flanagan’s performance wrapped up with more empty assurances, deflecting from the real issues plaguing the state due to unchecked immigration and lax oversight.
“I will continue to stand with the Somali community, to be with you, and to do all I can to return the friendship and community that the Somali community has shown me,” Flanagan said.
Such calculated moves highlight how Democrats like Flanagan put vote-chasing and identity politics ahead of protecting American resources and enforcing the law, even as hardworking taxpayers foot the bill for the chaos.
