Trump isn’t afraid to tell people what’s on his mind. It’s what makes him so effective.

And President Trump dropped a massive bombshell about one of his top officials.

President Donald Trump pulled no punches Monday when he credited Secretary of War Pete Hegseth with being “the first” voice in the administration calling for decisive military force against Iran’s terror-sponsoring dictatorship.

Speaking at a public safety roundtable in Memphis, Tennessee, Trump described how he gathered his top military leaders to confront the growing danger from the ayatollahs. For nearly five decades, Iran has poured fuel on conflicts across the region while racing toward a nuclear bomb that could threaten the entire civilized world.

“I called a lot of our great people. We have great people, and I said, ‘Let’s talk. We got a problem in the Middle East. We have a country known as Iran that, for 47 years, has been just a purveyor of terror, and they’re close to a nuclear weapon,’” Trump said.

“Pete, I think you were the first one to speak up. And you said, ‘Let’s do it, because you can’t let them have a nuclear weapon,’”

The United States launched Operation Epic Fury on February 28 in coordination with Israeli forces, delivering hammer blows to the Iranian regime’s military machine.

American strikes have already hammered more than 9,000 targets and either damaged or sunk over 140 Iranian vessels, according to figures released by U.S. Central Command.

Thirteen American service members have paid the ultimate price so far, with more than 200 others wounded in the fierce fighting. Yet their sacrifice has put the mullahs on the defensive like never before.

Just before the New York Stock Exchange opened its doors Monday, Trump declared a five-day halt in planned assaults on Iranian energy sites.

He pointed to “very good and productive conversations” with the struggling regime as the reason for the temporary stand-down.

Iran’s top officials immediately pushed back, with the foreign ministry and Parliamentary Speaker Mohammad Bager Ghalibaf insisting no real negotiations had even begun.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi admitted only that he had spoken with his Turkish counterpart ahead of Trump’s announcement.

Trump struck an optimistic tone about the path forward, telling reporters his team is making real headway.

“We are now having really good discussions,” Trump stated. They started last night, a little bit the night before that.”

He added that the Iranians appear ready to bend. “They want peace to– they’ve agreed they will not have a nuclear weapon, you know, etc.,” he said.

“We’ll see. You have to get it done. But I would say there’s a very good chance.”

With American resolve on full display and a proven fighter like Pete Hegseth helping steer the ship, the Trump administration is showing the world what real leadership looks like. No more empty talk, no more endless patience for a terror state racing toward doomsday weapons.

The message from Memphis was clear: America will protect its people, its allies, and its future by any means necessary.
