Debates aren’t anything unusual for politicians. But no one expected a physical fight to occur.

And a heated fight breaks out during a Senate hearing that leaves Capitol Hill in shock.

Washington, D.C. has been the host of heated arguments over the years from members of Congress.

But on Tuesday, one of those arguments went to the next level as punches were almost thrown between Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) and Teamsters President Sean O’Brien.

O’Brien was present at the hearing to testify in defense of unions to the Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions.

Back in June, O’Brien lashed out at Mullin by posting on X that the senator is a “clown” and “fraud.”

He also added at the end of his post, “You know where to find me. Anyplace, Anytime cowboy.”

Mullin was still bothered by the social media post and brought it up to O’Brien during the questioning period of the hearing.

“Sir, this is a time. This is a place. You want to run your mouth? We can be two consenting adults – we can finish it here,” Mullin said to O’Brien while referencing the June X post.

“Ok, that’s fine. Perfect,” O’Brien responded back.

“You want to do it right now?” Mullin inquired again. It should be noted that senator from Oklahoma used to be an MMA fighter before his time in Washington.

“I’d love to do it right now,” O’Brien responded again.

“Well, stand your butt up then,” Mullin said.

The senator then quickly stood up ready to fight the Teamsters president, leading to Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) yelling for both of them to stand down.

“You’re a United States senator. Sit down,” Sanders yelled.

“This is a hearing, and God knows the American people have enough contempt for Congress.”

While Sanders was able to stop any punches from being thrown, he wasn’t able to fully stop Mullin and O’Brien from verbally attacking each other, including trying to set up a time and place for a fight for charity.
